This idea is to add a couple of new magic effects to the game of minecraft, which can be obtained by consuming potions.
The first of these effects is Enlightenment. The potion which gives this effect is brewed by adding a Bottle o Enchanting to an Awkward Potion. For as long as a player is Enlightened, if he has a less than full hunger bar, the magical effect will convert experience into hunger points, specifically converting one twentieth of a level into one point (half of a drumstick) of hunger. The potion can be made into extended, enhanced, splash, and lingering versions. The enhanced version takes fewer ticks between each check on the player's hunger.
The second of these new magical effects is Endarkenment. The potion for it is brewed by adding a Pickled Spider Eye to a Potion of Enlightenment. For as long as a player is Endarkened, if he has more than two hunger points (one drumstick), he will lose a point of hunger and gain 5 or 6 experience points. The Endarkenment potion cannot be made into splash or lingering versions, but can be made into extended and enhanced versions.
Both of these two effects would be valuable (but not overpowered) additions to the game. Enlightenment is good for staying alive in general, but also useful for certain types of AFK farm, where the player might starve to death. Endarkenment is useful for a player who is enchanting/anvilling things, but does not yet have an XP farm, only food farms.
An Enlightenment beacon might be a bright idea.
Splash or lingering Endarkenment potions would too overpowered for PVP.

PS: I am deliberately ignoring saturation.
