Couple of Blocks and improvements for the Swamp Biome
Mud Block > Pulls player down into it like Magma with Water. Players begin to take suffocation damage similar to Gravel and Sand
Crafting Recipe = 8 dirt Blocks + Bucket of Water
Quick Sand > Pulls player down into it like Magma with water. Players begin to take suffocation damage similar to Gravel and Sand
Crafting Recipe = 8 Sand Blocks + Bucket of Water
*note Quicksand is Effected by Gravity
Algae > Dense water block filled with Algae and seagrass Movement speed reduced by 25%
*note Algae is considered a Plant, like kelp and Seagrass, therefore it can be collected but only with Shears (Similar to Cobwebs). It will be extremely common in the Swamp, Nearly as Common as Grass blocks.
New Mob: Chomper, Not quite a Crocodile or an Alligator but inspired by them. Chompers can Hide in Deep Algae and cannot be seen (bar their perky eyes hovering on the surface). They are 1/2 a block tall and 2 1/2 blocks long and can breathe underwater longer than any other mob in the game (even more than Dolphins). When Sitting in Algae Chompers enter a stealth mode and can sit in Algae indefinitely. They are always hostile mobs but will not attack unless the player gets within 3 blocks of them. Chompers eat Chickens and Rabbits, but may also attack pigs. They will never attack Cows, Wolves, Foxes or Bears. Chompers have 6 hearts of health and deal 3 1/2 damage to the player with no armor. Chompers will move slowly when neutral but when provoked typically will charge at the player very fast. Chompers are a Blacky, Yellow colour (with small patches of green). Their bright yellow eyes can be seen in the Darkness making traveling through the swamp biome at night very scary.
Boats and Chompers. Chompers will ignore Players in Boats and typically will swim away from them.
Boats and Algae. Boat speed is reduced by 15% when traveling through algae.
Boats and Mud. Mud is usually found right at the banks of rivers so it's possible for Boats to get stuck into the mud. Boats will not be pulled down into it however. (Same applies for quicksand)
Witch Village added to the biome. (Basically an improved Witches hut, only a full watery village).
Things to expect in the Village:
Witches
Potions
Ingredients
Mushrooms
Beds
Cauldrons
Firepits
Chests of goodies etc.
New mob Frog: Contesting for the smallest mob in Minecraft the frog is roughly the same size as the rabbit. It can leap up to 2 blocks in height and drops Frogs legs when killed. Frogs are speedy little buggers just like Rabbits.
New Resource: Turf.
Turf can be found in veins underneath grass and mud blocks and dug up with a shovel. Turf will be wet by default, making the block (Wet Turf).
Turf can be dry by exposing it to direct sunlight for 1 day or Cooked in a Furnace to get Dry Turf. It is recommended to dry turf naturally as Turf can be used as an Alternative to Coal and burns at roughly the same rate. Turf has a blocky brown texture that is very lumpy looking.
New mini Biome > Mushroom Garden. A large patch of land in the Marshlands Covered in Brown and Red Mushrooms more than usual
The mud-block, algae and witch villages all seem like great ideas! They would definitely improve survival gameplay. However, I feel as though frogs would not flow with the style of the game. I feel the same about chompers, however, these could definitely be improved and become a great addition! Turf also seems interesting, however, having it last as long as coal is somewhat useless as you have to wait for it to dry.

Maybe a hostile frog with a lily pad on top which you can stand on like shulkers?
Not a bad suggestion. Water suffocating seems a little extreme though, maybe only in Hard difficulty it can suffocate you?
Good idea. Maybe this frog could give you a poison effect, that increases in duration as the game difficulty settings is increased.
I was thinking Suffocation only happens if you get pulled down 2 blocks deep. So you're totally Submerged in icky mud.
A village full of witches seems a bit hard, but it sounds like it would have a good reward.
I think it would be cool to have a camouflaged frog that stays on one block and jumps out, poisoning people who get close, but i kind of doubt it.
The question is, how would you get out of the quick sand?
Love your idea on chompers btw!
