I am making a suggestion that Mojang could make an update all related to food. Here are some of the things they could add:
Items:
Tomatoes - Tomatoes can give you 1 hunger bar and can be planted by using Tomato Seeds, obtainable by villages or chests.
Oranges - Oranges work almost like cakes. Only you can hold them in your hand and eat them. Gives you half a hunger bar for each time you eat the orange. Have a chance of giving you Orange Seeds, which you can plant to get an orange tree. The Orange Tree looks like an Oak Tree, but every tree has at least one orange. You can only find them by trading with Farmer Villagers or a normal Oak Tree, which is very rare to obtain. Costs only 1 Emerald and can give you 1-3 Oranges.
Strawberries - Strawberries can give you half a hunger bar. They can be planted and can give you 2-5 strawberries. You can only find these rarely in biomes with plants in them.
Lettuce - Lettuce gives you 2 Hunger bars and can be found only in villages.
Cucumber - Does that a carrot does.
And I have more ideas, just can't think of what they should do.
Placeable Item:
Every Type of Bowl - Works like a cake, but you don't eat the bowl.
Craftable Items:
Salad: Bowl, Lettuce, Tomato, Cucumber (Anywhere)
Fork - All of the top in iron ingots, all of the middle in iron ingots. Has unlimited durability when only used for eating food. Used to eat food in bowls. Does 4 Damage to mobs. Has 25 Durability if used for something different, other than eating.
Spoon - Same recipe as an iron shovel, only the sticks are replaced by iron ingots. Same things as Fork, but can also be used to mine all the things a shovel can mine. Has 30 Durability.
Knife - Same recipe as iron axe only the sticks are replaced by iron ingots. Same things as Fork, but can be used to stab enemies to deal 6 damage. Has 100 Durability.
Mobs:
Mouse - Has 12 Hearts, Comes as Passive (Common), Neutral (Uncommon), and Aggressive (Rare). Can steal some food. Drops the food it took if it did take anything. If it didn't you earn 3 exp for passive, 5 exp for Neutral and 10 exp for Aggressive. Spawns anywhere except River, Ocean and any snowy biomes. Can cause poison on you. Deals 5-7 Damage.
Fly - Has 4 Hearts. Is Passive. Eats food and has a chance to cause Hunger when you eat the fly's eaten food. Gives you 1 exp when killed. Spawns Anywhere. Can hitch-hike a Mouse to cause the Wither effect for 3 seconds.
These were some of the ideas I thought of for the Food Update. Bye for now!

Don't be a bull in a china shop, be an elephant in a china shop!
Peas - Peas can be found in Villages and in the wild. Collect nine and spread them out in a crafting table to make a block of peas. Pea Plants drop 4-9 Peas. Peas give you half a hunger bar and Blocks of Peas give you 4 1/2 hunger bars.
Placeable Item:
Fridge - Fridges have a chance of spawning in the oceans, as Mossy Fridges. Fridges can hold any type of food. It is best to only store raw foods and peas; if you put cooked foods, they will be turned into raw foods. Perfect for trading with Butchers. Have 9 storage slots for each level. Comes in 4 Levels. Mossy Fridges already come as 4 Levels. Has a chance of spawning in Igloos, Witch Huts, Mansions and Villages. You can't turn a Mossy Fridge into a normal Fridge. Mined with a Stone Pickaxe or higher
Craftable Items:
Fridge - 2 levers on the top middle and bottom middle. The rest iron bocks for each level.

What would be the purpose of a fridge, food doesn't go off in minecraft.
You can store raw food or turn cooked food into raw food, so you can sell it for those lovely emeralds from the butchers. Not forgetting the peas I mentioned... Though you can put any other food in here.

But you can store food in chests right? I get that if food spoiled after a while, a fridge would be useful like in Ark, but I don't see the point in minecraft.

Good point. But it is a nice way to trade with butchers, if you want to get the emeralds. I might have the fridge idea removed. Thank you for helping me. Help appreciated.
