I have a growing collection of maps, a lot of which I carry with me as I explore, since I get lost very easily.
It would be nice to have a "map book" where all my maps go, and I can access them as I need them. This would reduce the amount of slots my maps are taking up in my inventory.
I love this idea! I definitely think your idea is better but I also had an idea of just having a map that scrolls as you move around the world. Idk how difficult that would be to implement or if people would prefer to have static maps but I thought I'd add my suggestion to your thread.
I love your idea. I currently build little houses everywhere and keep a copy of the map for that area in the house and take one with me for nearby houses.

This means you can't hit things or activate things while you are holding your atlas, but I think that would be a fair drawback for having a collection of maps in a single item.
So much this! I have so many damn maps and a couple of huge maps in item frames as decoration. Considering how much smaller the sections are with each map, this would be SUPER useful.

#being able to name a map would be great as well.
You can name maps, on an anvil.
I like the idea but it should be called an atlas, not a map book.
thank you for that information... I forgot about anvil's ...
I also love this idea!
Yes please.
Book (with quill?) + Map = Atlas.
With Atlas on the hotbar and in your hand;
Left click = flip to previous page/map
Right click = flip to next page/map

Atlas can be renamed in the anvil.
