I made a blaze farm. Part of the design uses the Powered Rail/activator rail system (really good design circulating on Youtube) to funnel them into a kill chamber. Instead of killin them I pushed them into a portal (using pistons on clock) that goes into a 2x5 stream of water. The water flows away into another kill chamber (must put signs at the end. You don't want to fully kill the blaze). It is most efficient as two person farm as long as you don't push too many blaze through the portal. meaning If you push a crap ton of blaze through the in portal as a solo player then load into the overworld, there is going to be some traffic and some will die due to water damage.
If you are wondering why I wanted to bring them into the Overworld, It's to do water damage to them. I have found that when mob traffic is high in the farm some blaze will get stuck in the portal itself (like phased in it or something) I have fixed this buy putting a water bucket dispenser on the back side of the portal. This does turn the portal off. You can fix that by putting a dispenser with a flint and steel. This will turn the portal on with a button. Extending the circuits back to the kill chamber in the Overworld is a convenience.
