so I’ve built a castle and a gate to get into. gate closes by filling it with blocks and opens the same way and I already have some command blocks doing that, but I want these blocks to be activated only by “the king”. found some /execute detect commands examples on the web but they didn't work. need your help guys! playing Minecraft PE latest version, if that matters.
^^^Wouldn't he have to specify the player within the testfor command? I know he could testfor @e[type=players] but how would he do a specific player? Without manually inputting their name in the command.
Nope buddy, the command block simply has to look for "the king", so either give that king a tag or simply specify his name because i dont think the role of the king is gonna change between players, even if he does, he can go for tags. Anyways, I'm posting this pic if it helps anyone.
How would you define the king? You answered part of my question by manually putting it in. I work with a theme park and I have a king game where it is based off who wants to be the king. You can't manually enter the king each game so I use conditional command blocks as well as some test fors to see who the king is and give them special privledges.
My main question is how would you use /testfor to test for a king specifically?

oh c'mon man !! there r many ways to do so based on your creativity like
Make a special room in which a single player shall enter during a fest like event where everybody gathers to see him!! (fancy!!) he gets a tag for the king when he enters the room, this tag can be detected by that /testfor command
A booth with the same principal may also work
A player can also be alloted the responsibilty to give him the tag
My main idea is only he shall be given a special tagname or team name by a command block, which shall be detected by the command block near the GATE.
And yes, either he needs to have this tag name or team name mechanism, only then he would be automatically detected
OR ELSE yes, his name shall be specified in the commands specifically by someone, we can make it more fun by calling that guy some sorcerer who knows secrets!! or who's responsible for giving the king his power. Its like when a king changes, he shall pass the secret of the command to the next heir !! Its just an idea dude!!! Depends on him how he implements it based on what he likes
Moreover this king tag shall be removed from any player who leaved the premises of that game in your theme park, but its lesslikely to be something like theme park, since why would that king be given special privileges just for a single theme park game. I think the king would stay a king for much longer, thats y i proposed the idea[/left]
How do you tag players? I know how to do it with /scoreboard but I use bedrock and don't have it yet. Is there another way to do it? That would unlock a lot of potential for a lot of my games. I have been using conditional blocks and assigning specific players an item no other player has and using that with conditionals to differentiate the two. It's invonvenient for a lot of reasons. If I could tag people without /scoreboard that would be fantastic
You kind of hurt me there a little bit. :'(... XD I was really looking forward to tags. My original method works if you don't want to manually enter the king. Just specify an item that only the king has and use a single item cost payment system with conditional command blocks to specify to only the king. I can invite you to my realm too and show you personally if this confuses you.

An alternative would be to have one specific item for the King.
You would have an impulse CB that would /clear @e[type=player,x=#,y=#,z=#,dx=#,dy=#,dz=#] magma_cream 0 1
Then you would have a chain command block coming from that set to Conditional and have that conditional block open the door.
Is this for a game or is one person always the king? If one person is always the king I would just type their specific name in the command block.

He didn't really specify if that was the issue.
