So I remember when the Woodland Mansion was added to the console version. Unfortunately for me, I had already explored the entire 5x5 large world map before the worlds were infinite. I got a map to a woodland mansion but it was not there because the chunk was already loaded in / explored before the update. Now that Bedrock is here and the world is infinite, I was hoping to find one. I spent three hours yesterday flying around 1,000's of blocks away from spawn. Do you think my world just won't have one or are they just that rare? The draw distance makes it tough to spot them but I have a bad feeling my world just doesn't have one.

The thing that concerns me is when I travel so far, the file size increases big time which makes copying the world a longer task. My game was having a hard time loading yesterday but probably unrelated. I know of a cheat method to find mansions but I am not going to do it and not even sure it works on console. Make a copy of game, enable cheats on copy, then locate/mansion or something like that. I don't want to take the chance of ruining my Survival world by going to Creative.

What system are you on? I'm on xbox one, and have explored 5x5 max size map area with no obvious issues with save/load times and file sizes
I'm on Xbox One. Not the Xbox Edition version. Minecraft (BedRock). The file size was about 300MB. Now that the world is infinite and I explored 1,000's of additional blocks outside the 5x5 area, the file size is 600MB.

I got a Woodland mansion map from Cartographer villager. It was about 5000 blocks away. That is by far the easiest way to find one in existing world.
Yeah I need to upgrade a cartographer from a villager outside the 5x5 area. That is sort of my problem right now is bringing enough paper and whatever else I need to upgrade him enough to get the map. Any maps bought within the 5x5 area will not work.

I wouldn't say that no map bought within the 5x5 will work, but it's more likely it would work the closer you are to the edge of the 5x5, or the farther you are away from it entirely.
The cartographer will give you coordinates to the closest (wiki sez "one of the closest") unexplored mansion, based on a calculation of what should be there if your world had been generated using its seed and the new infinite world algorithm. So it's possible that you could be in, say, the farthest East map of your 5x5 and the closest calculated mansion location is just farther east into the next map (which would be an infinite-worlds-generated map). So you could buy a map within your 5x5, but be given coordinates that are outside of it.
Of course, going say 2 full level-4 zoom maps away from the 5x5 and then finding a cartographer would probably have an excellent chance of producing a valid map. I think you could actually bring a cartographer with you, so long as you haven't yet traded up to the woodland explorer map. The map they offer (sez wiki) is decided when you open up the trade, and won't change after that. So maybe you could minecart through the Nether with a newbie cartographer and then trade him up when you're outside the 5x5.
I haven't dabbled in Nether portal traveling. I only have one cartographer with a map to a non existent mansion. I wouldn't feel comfortable bringing a villager in the Nether anyway. I think my best bet is to travel far and level up a cartographer. I'm just worried I wont have enough of the stuff he needs and he will forever be lost because I never turn on coordinates. I'll look into how much it takes to level up high enough to get a map. I've got a ton of rockets and Unbreaking III / Mending I Elektra Wings so I cover a lot of ground.

Ok, so to level up Cartographers, it only requires paper and compasses, along with some emerald purchases. Shouldn't be too difficult. I'll stock up and give it another go when I get home tonight. I want that Totem of Undying!

Infinite worlds means infinite amount of mansions, though they are very rare.
And they could be 20.000 blocks away ore more...

Got one! Ended up with 2 Totems of Undying and stacks on stacks on stacks of bookshelves. Took 10 cauldrons too. Not a bad haul.
