Skeletons don't attack them in better together, I tested most of the main mobs in a testing world. The skeleton wouldn't go after the eggs even when spawned right beside them.
Also, I've seen java videos showing a 24 block detection distance, but my tests came up with 17 blocks.
I believe the 24 block distance is correct. Sometimes, extra measures have to be taken to ensure mobs have constant line of sight with the egg. This can be achieved by putting the eggs on a block to have it be on eye level.
Does anyone have a full list of mobs that will seek out turtle eggs to break them?

Also, does anyone know the range at which they will see the eggs and go towards them.

So for anyone wondering, it seems to be limited to zombies, zombie villagers, and zombie pigmen from what I tested.
Also, they will seek out the eggs from 17 blocks away from the egg (Not counting the block the egg is on)
