So I have the new edition downloaded for Win 10, and also PE on my phone. The Win10 edition is already linked to my Xbox Live account. Is there going to be an issue if I also link the PE version on my phone to the same account? I still haven't set up the PE edition because I don't want to cause an issue. I also have to consider that I will have my copy of the Nintendo Switch edition added to this togetherness eventually. Anyone having any issues with multiple versions of the new Minecraft all using the same Xbox Live account? I am curious how friend requests will be handled especially if I am on my Xbox One using Live and not on any of the other devices where I have Minecraft installed. Will I be able to play both versions multiplayer at the same time and how would that work being doubly connected? I don't see anything in the FAQ about the new version concerning this.
Not sure about simultaneous logons, but I have it on Xbox One and iOS and I can freely switch between them using the same Xbox Live ID. My Realm is visible in both games, but worlds created locally are not visible on other devices. When I log off the Xbox and pick up the iOS device, my Steve is right where I left him in my Realm.
Sadly, it looks like multiple logins with the same account CAN NOT play together. My son logs in with my account on iPad, and on a separate IOS device we used to be able to see each other under the Friends tab. Not after the "better together" update, which is pretty frustrating.
@nandaiyo, that is exactly what I am worried about. If I sign all of my Better Together versions up using the same Xbox Live ID I have a feeling I won't be able to play them together as you can't invite yourself to a game. So I might set up a few new Live id's for the other devices.
I am having a horrible, disappointing day on several laptops logged into the same family wifi. Just a few weeks ago we were on Minecraft all at the same time, each in a separate account that I created. In early August, I found a single Minecraft purchase could be played on multiple machines, but with separate log in accounts. I did have to buy separate Worlds for each machine, so a few hundred dollars went into that. All of my purchases were charged to a single Microsoft account, but while logged in as each separate identity on each machine. Today, one machine automatically updated to Better Together. Today, after venturing to PC/Mac Java the last two weeks, as Riverboat1234 but with one email address in PC/Mac and another email address in Windows10, on my main notebook, I can not sign in as Riverboat1234 on my main laptop. Nor can I sign out! I am stuck there forever. On the laptop that I first turned on today, and that automatically upgraded to Better Together, in total frustration for both a grandson and myself, I uninstalled and reinstalled what I thought would be Window10 1.1.5, but the default Better Together took over, and that was that. All previously purchased Worlds disappeared on that machine. On my main machine, my previously purchased worlds are padlocked. I think the Better Together has a greed factor involved. I think some previous forums and how-to content for families needs to be revised, so that it is crystal clear what can nowbe done, with what accounts. I am waiting to hear from Xbox, Microsoft, and Mojang support persons. I have spent at least three hours on the phone, including time being transferred from Xbox to Microsoft, because I do not have Xbox consoles and do not play the games on Xbox. We use laptops. Then, at Microsoft, I got transferred back to Xbox because the main visible happening was that when trying to sign in as Riverboat1234 on my main laptop, within Minecraft, the Xbox|Windows sign in window message was Not connected to internet. I was absolutely connected to internet. So Microsoft tech support said that was an Xbox sign in issue and sent me back to Xbox support. Endless loop of non-resolution. In desperation, I now have two new Riverboat identities, and the mess is messier, and a bottomless financial pit. There are some fascinating creative aspects to Minecraft, moreso with PC/Mac Java. But at this point in time, the Better is Worse, and Xbox, Microsoft, and Mojang need to get the interfaces working smoothly, and to simplify multiple accounts. Something has changed dramatically, and not for the better.
If you set up additional id's, watch out for the fine print and wording, wherever it may be, if you can find it. I did perceive wording today that Minecraft had to be purchased for each account, which is not so previously. I can not recall exactly where I saw this, and I can not instantly find it now.

Perhaps the ability to play as multiple accounts on single-purchase Minecraft installed on multiple machines was something Minecraft Xbox Microsoft just found out as a consumer advantage and their disadvantage, and have now shut that down. Hopefully, the answers will be clear and forthcoming, soon.
Thanks. That sounds like a real mess and I am glad that I only let my laptop sign in. I still have yet to sign in my phone, and eventually my Switch will be in this mix. Also a little nervous about how it's all going to act when I am also logged into my Xbox Live account on my Xbox at the same time. In case that brings up questions about how many machines can you be on at one time, I have been playing on the Switch with my son as we use Xbox Live on our Xbox Ones as our comm. Not great or elegant but it's what we have at the time.
