1. It appears you're still running the Beta? Did you get a prompt to update your version to the "gold" version going live today?
2. No, I don't think you can get free editions on other platforms. If you own Win10, then you automatically (eventually?) get the Better Together gold version. If you own iOS/Android, same thing. If you own Minecraft: Xbox One Edition, then you get a free copy of Minecraft (just "Minecraft" - that's what they call this Better Together thing) for your console. If you own Minecraft: Switch Edition, then some time this winter (supposedly) you will get a free copy of Minecraft.
Q: What’s the Better Together Update redemption process for disc owners?
A: You’ll need to log into Xbox Live (no need for gold) and insert the disc. You can either wait for the prompt once the game starts or go to the Xbox Store, where you’ll will find the new version of the game. If you’ve either played five hours in the last 12 months, or have bought DLC at any time, the new game should show up as free to download. If not, you can fulfill either of the conditions above before January 30th 2018 and then come back to the store to download. Please be prepared fora short wait, though - as it may take us a few days to process all the redemption requests.
Since this is Day 0 of the rollout, I'm sure they're swamped and trying to push out updates as quickly as they can. Just keep trying.
i have the xbox disc and it wont give me the better together update please help me
I have the disc version as well and can't get it yet. According to what is in the FAQ that was released this morning the disc version will require verification that you are eligible to receive it, which can take several days. Here's the answer in the FAQ:
