I'm fairly new to scripting for minecraft but not to programming in general. I have attempted to create custom items with two separate add-on editor guis (although I can write json files by hand, they make it easier). However, each seems to have the same limitation; namely that I can set item durability, but it does not affect mining speed and the custom items cannot mine regular stone; it breaks blocks but doesn't drop anything.
This is just making the item take less damage. I've seen a few tutorials for previous versions of Bedrock that edit the behaviorpack/entities/player.json file to add block breaking with specific items, summarized here:
However, this yields the same functionality, namely, a strong item that is durable but mines very slowly and doesn't drop cobblestone when a stone block breaks.
I've searched for hours and can't find any solutions that work; only tutorials for the Java edition. Does anyone know how to do this, or can direct me toward a method that works? I greatly appreciate any helpful suggestions.
