Had a quick look through the forums and couldn't find anything specifically about this, but how do you create maps on xbox one? I have mapped my new world but obviously once you go off the edge it no longer continues to map so I assume you have to make another blank map? Would I have to do this starting in an unmapped section, do the maps get allocated a reference number, etc.? Any help would be great with this.
You craft a new blank map using 1 compass and 8 pieces of paper. It's in the Weapons and Tools tab in the crafting table. You have to scroll up to find it. When you craft it, it will just look like a piece of paper in your hands and not a normal map. Now that you have it, travel outside the bounds of your starting map or the map for the area you're currently in. Once you're out of that area, equip the map, then hit LT (Left Trigger) and it will open your new map and start filling it out.
As for zooming the map, that is something 4J hasn't added to the console versions yet and we don't know if they ever will. Same goes for making a map on a wall with item frames and full explore maps. Neither of them are in the game yet.
Thank you, had a go last night and it worked. I got confused when I made the map as it was held in my hand like a normal item. I kept thinking I had paper in my hand and went back to my house to swap it for the map before I realised what was happening!
You can place maps on a wall using an item frame but you cannot make one giant map like this....
One the consoles, you can only make a map on a wall look like this...
That is what I was talking about.
Are you sure about this? I haven't tried it yet, but according to this thread, in the latest update it was changed so you can make the single, giant map...

Also, is it possible to zoom out the map?

Maybe it does work. I haven't put maps on a wall in a long time. If someone says it does then I guess it does.
