Hello, I've been playing Minecraft for about 2 years now and have had the full MCPE on my iphone for about a year. I am really interested in using a different texture packs on my phone including John smith's texture pack and also Flow's. I've gone through numerous tutorials on how to do it, yet nothing.
I've downloaded various texture packs. I've download iExplorer and it still doesn't seem to work. I will download a texture pack and go through the assets and find terrain-atlas.tga instead of terrain.png and I honestly have no idea what to do. Nothing i try to put into iExplorer works. If you could help me in anyway possible, I would be much appreciative. Thanks
I'm in the same boat - was hoping to get the John Smith 0.5.0 textures to work on Minecraft PE for Android by following tutorials, but having no success.
Turns out the issue is that 1) the later versions of Minecraft PE do not use the same file structure as this texture pack, and 2) the 'terrain.png' file that determined terrain textures in older versions has been replaced by 5 'terrain-atlas.tga' files. (See Reddigirl's post here for a full breakdown of the new file structure).
Textures for Mobs and a few other things can be updated by manually copying them into the new file structure, but the differences between terrain-atlas.tga and terrain.png prevent any easy workarounds for terrain textures.
If I find that anyone has transposed the John Smith textures to a set of terrain-atlas.tga files, I'll post a link.

Props to Jacques Remy for modifying these texture packs that work with the current version.
If you need a tutorial for applying one of his 0.8.x-compatible texture packs, I used this one.
Good luck, fellow noob.
