So last night I discovered why just having an open trash pit is a really bad way to dispose of trash when I scrolled 1 spot too far on my hot bar and threw my Sharpness Looting Unbreaking Mending diamond sword into the lava by accident.
Now I'm using a dropper with a burnout clock attached to it. A lever on there keeps the redstone lit until I need it.
Man, has it been that long already? Three weeks? Ick!
I haven't been feeling very creative in Minecraft lately. I've still been playing it, but not really doing anything all that exciting. More grinding than building, if you know what I mean.
Last night I started ripping up the floor at the bottom of the Sanctuary, pulling out the glass and lava. I'm going to try a couple of different effects and see if there's any I like better. As I'm doing it I'm stacking the lava into a large tube for storage. I'll probably have to build several of these as the work goes on. I've also converted the waterfall in there into a semi-useful squid farm by putting hoppers underneath it. It's not great, but it does produce.
I do need to get back to work on the iron farm up top - only one compartment has any villagers left in it. I need to finish the pull and push villager elevators, as well as protect the compartments from lightning strikes. I just haven't been feeling motivated to work on that part of things. I'm sure I'll get back to it eventually.
I had a random idea over the weekend of closing this Realm and restarting it as a public one (maybe using Patreon to manage a $1 entry fee per player) where each participant has a Kingdom they can build. Players could work together or not as they wanted. I suspect there are a bunch of those already out there though, so probably not much demand for one, and managing the players could be a bunch of extra work too.
Slowly trying to convert the bottom of the mountain hollow, I think I like this better than the other versions I've done. It'll be a lot of work, as it's more creative than the others.
The stone flagstones are over lava, which provides the lighting. The stone brick flagstones are not. Pillars are built on top of bedrock, and I try to combine them into structures.
Yeah, I've not been doing much Minecraft lately. It's probably a good thing I never seriously thought about trying to get into the whole YouTube Minecraft business. I'd be terrible at it.
Anyways, I've cancelled the Realms subscription and downloaded the world. My tablet is dead, none of the kids ever log in, there's no point to having it anywhere other than on my PC.
Pretty much all I've been doing is mindless expansion digging on the base, clearing out areas that need to be dug and laying floor tiles.
And I came up with a new design for lava storage:
I figure when the Update Aquatic comes out I'll start a new world fresh. I think the exploration is what I enjoy the most.
I calculated the storage of those Lava Silos - they each hold 152 lavas when full.
I had a busy morning this morning. I finally built a working stone generator, using the video linked below as the model. I modified it though so that the stone flows downward instead of horizontal. Now the innocent-looking back to one of the chambers is actually a stone generator. It's not the fastest in the world, but it'll do, I'm sure.
And all this stone generator cost me was all of my Diamond Mending armor and pickax. A TOTALLY WORTHWHILE EXCHANGE! *headdesk* I burned myself up in lava, because I'm an idiot.
So I decided to make the cubby where the stone flow wall is into my stone workshop. I'm siphoning all of the stone products from my mass storage center into it. Rather than run back and forth frantically carrying tons of stone, I ran a line of hoppers through the floor to an elevator, and into a stack of chests. I'm going to have to expand it further though. I've got a TON of stone stuff built up - hollowing out a mountain will do that.
I also put in a trash chute under the floor. Running redstone through and around bedrock is tricky.
And just a couple more views of my base. I sometimes forget just how large this space is... As an example, each of the lava storage tubes is 30 blocks high.
In part because I've had the song Diggy Diggy Hole running through my head for the last 3 days, and in honor of the massive excavation of the Heart of the Mountain project I've done here, i've created myself a new skin.
I don't particularly identify as a dwarf, but it fits so well.
So... yeah. You know all that diamond gear I lost in lava a week or two ago? Yep, I just did it again! It wasn't quite *everything* this time, just the boots, sword, shovel and the mending pickax I just spent all my emeralds making after the last loss. *sigh*

I've almost finished ripping out the glass floor. It's all done except for a few corners.

It gives it an organic random feel, I think.
