It sounds like the houses are built onto a ledge inside the ravine, instead of carved into the walls? I've not seen a ravine for myself in Minecraft, but the ones I've seen in videos don't look wide enough for that kind of building, to hold a house on the left, a walkway in front of it, the gap between, and then a house on the right and a ledge in front of it. So this will be a much wider ravine than we're used to seeing. It might need to be made deeper than normal too, to keep it looking like a ravine rather than a ditch.
With your farms on the bottom, you probably want to put some kind of roof over the top, to keep plummeting mobs from destroying your crops. Glass, panes, or fence posts would keep it from looking like the floor of the ravine.

Comment: I think my ideas are very confusing for anyone who isn't me - no offense. Once I set the time aside to get the idea in place, I'll upload a screenshot or several. Also, what do you think about my new format? I think it keeps things clean, as long as my responses aren't too long.
The format seems fine to me, but using words only sometimes makes getting your concepts across more difficult. And some of your posts seem to start after you've given something a lot of thought, and you don't fill us in on that background, so it feels like we're dropping in on the middle of a conversation, and we missed the set up. That could just be me though. I do catch up (I think), by the end.

Comment: Fair enough. I do have a predicament, though; my phone* is no longer charging (at all), and has died. I think I'll get a new battery/borrow one so I can save all the data for the world in another location, as I've done a few times before. Wish me luck!
*Maybe I should avoid using my phone to play Minecraft?...

Update:
-Once I get a new battery for my phone (turns out that that's the problem), I will be able to transfer the data to a new phone I got. If it weren't for the fact that worlds aren't saved, I would be able to start working right now.
-I've found myself with little time to do anything, but I think I'll be able to start working again soon.
-My first game of Monopoly has also caused a bit of a problem, as now I'll be forced to protect my winning position from a friend of mine; the game is still in progress, despite us playing for (roughly) three hours straight during a trip.

Topic: Progress
Update: I scrapped the original world (since I still haven't been able to get the original phone to start, so it's stuck there) and have made significant progress on a new world. The ceiling and walls definitely need a bit of work, and I haven't decided whether it should look cave-like, or like it was carved out. Once I make it a bit neater, I will be posting screenshots. I've hit lava on one side, but am working to reach the same level all around; two blocks above the void.

Update: I built a rough representation of what I want, and will be proceeding by blowing up large portions of the cave. i haven't been able to much these pas two weeks, but it still looks pretty nice for what the plan is.
You probably already did this but you could make mine shafts for the lowest floor if your putting ores and storage there and the mine shafts connect and that's how it gets to storage and can possibley be a transport route too

Update: This project really, really died. I've made a new world yet again, and am now building a kingdom above the ground where I'll be building the dwarven kingdom. Currently, while subject to change, the above-ground kingdom is being made out of Nether-based blocks. Since it's located in an area with access to water, but is crescent shaped, it'd make a great port-kingdom. Not to mention, there's a small mountain splitting the way to the ocean, so I'll be building a statue or tower on it. My only worries are that it won't look that good since it's being built with Nether-based blocks, and that the architecture may look a bit bland. Once stained glass is added, I'll be able to implement an interesting idea for the underground kingdom.

Reply: Considering how everything is being handled, I think the only way you'd be able to help would be if we were to add each other on Xbox Live. From what I know, "friends" can join open worlds over wifi. However, I do not put nearly enough time into the build for it to be more than a small interest of mine - I got back into SWTOR (don't judge), but, since I preordered Dishonored 2, Dishonored Definitive Edition has been occupying my time now - and have such a strange building style it probably can't even be defined. I'm sure anyone who saw the "above-ground kingdom" would think, "Does this guy have any idea what he's doing?", but it's just kind of existing at this point. I definitely need to work on depth and small details on everything, but my main goal right now is to finish cutting the port-like location off from the rest of the world by finishing the wall.
TL;DR: You could possibly help through Xbox Live, I barely put any of my free time into the build, I have a strange building style, and I need more "skill" when building.

Good luck with your design.
