This must of taken you ages , how long did it take anyway
I work on this map off and on when I have time so I don't have any idea of the total hours spent. I created this map on the morning of the 0.7.0 update and have been working on it since. I think each castle took about a week, and each house took roughly two to three hours. Double all of that to account for mining massive amounts of cobble and other resources and getting blown up, knocked down, bum rushed by zombies, reparing creeper holes, and wandering aimlessly trying to figure out where to build things. Usually I don't end up staying on one map this long, but the seed I used has kept my interest long enough to actually want to expand my kingdom across the entire map. Also, I should have a screenshot of castle number three later today. Thanks for looking!
This is the first tier of my mountain top castle. To give you a reference for how high up it is, the tallest tower is 10-12 blocks from the sky limit. I'm planning on three tiers down the side of the mountain, but I free build so it might end up being two or four tiers. Each tier will have a grassy courtyard and possibly a couple of houses if there's room.
Also, now that this thread is on page two, I'm just going to post my updates as we go. The first post is getting pretty full lol
I thought I would post a little progress screenshot from the top of the tallest tower of castle number three. So far things have been moving along at a steady pace with minimal creeper damage and very little falling to my death. As you can see, one courtyard is done and the second tier courtyard is walled off. I still need to raise the rest of the second tower and add crenellations to the wall, but I've done run out of stone lol.
Due to limited render distance, it's really difficult to capture castle number three in one screenshot. this is about the best I could do. The majority of the structure is finished, there's no external details that I NEED to add, but I might go in and add some things anyway while I hang out and wait for the grass to grow on the lowest tier. If anyone is interested in a map download let me know, I can add a link into the first post.

Castle #3
Definetly add a download link, i think you should add a new link about every week or so, so we can see all your updates outselves
I added a download link to the first post at the very bottom of all of the screenshots. Keep in mind, this is an ongoing build and most of the houses aren't furnished, the courtyards aren't safe (except for the main castle, it should be safe), and the roads aren't done. Also, if you download it and explore, don't dig straight down in the courtyards of the mountain castle, it's hollow underneath. I plan on maybe making some dwellings in these hollow areas, but I haven't worked out what I want yet. Next step, library!
Well, the library certainly didn't take as long as I thought it would lol. I went for a small structure packed with tomes of knowledge. This isn't a huge empire after all, they ain't read good so they ain't need books real bad. Anyway, screenshots!
First we have the front and back of the exterior
Then we have the interior shots
That's a lot of books! Seriously, I depleted my entire chest of sugar cane for this project...no more cakes for Toad for a while. I'm not sure where I'm going next, so I'll probably end up walking around aimlessly and harvesting for resources for a few days. Woo!
I have been playing on your map. The more I look at, the more I realize how incredible it is. I mean even your mines look good. I usually just dig randomly and then just level it out to one big room. But your way, I bet you find more diamonds and gold. I love some of the rooms are empty , so I can decorate. I love it. Thanks for posting this. It's amazing. I tried to make a map of mine, but I only ended up with a picture of one, lol. Keep posting pictures, and I'll post some of the pictures that I have taken of your map.
I've never attempted a windmill, that's a strong possibility. A barn is more likely, though it's such a pain trying to get animals where you want in survival so it might be an empty barn.

You are too kind. If you would like, you could post some screenshots in this thread showing your interior design skills (you're way better at it than I am) and some texture packs. And, yes, I do find a lot of diamonds with the method I use for mining. Also, If you have a dropbox and ZArchiver, making a map download is really easy. Just find the minecraft files, find the folder with the name of your map, then compress it and share it to dropbox. Once that's done, copy the link from dropbox and post it in the forums.
Impressive. You are a creative and talented builder.
Thank you sir, I do appreciate the kind words.
I just came back from a vacation so I haven't made any real progress on this map. I'm currently gathering resources and planning the next build. I think I need to make some more houses near the cathedral of the second castle and maybe a town hall of some sort. I need to practice on windmills before I build one here, I don't want to ruin my town with a hideous attempt at a windmill lol.
Yeah, I really suck at windmills so, none of those are happening anytime soon. I did however build two more half timbered sandstone tudors by the cathedral. I haven't really done any terraforming of the yards yet, but I like to keep that at a minimum to preserve the natural flow of the land.
You really put a lot of effort into this town I have you make new updates.plus my windmill look's like some sort of weird thing on those Long white thing.lol
lol yeah, I went into making windmills thinking "it's a windmill, just a tower with some fan blades on it, no sweat!" About halfway through making one my thoughts were more like "FFFFFUUUUUUUUU, why u no be easy to make windmill!" I think I need to look at a ton of era specific windmills and some tutorials on MC windmills before I try again. Also, I should be updating the map download link sometime next week with a few new additions and a little more detail work here and there.

You could always make a fancy house right near the cathedral for the bishop to live in.
Also does this town have a Mayor? or does someone rule from a castle?

There's a couple of fancier tudors next to the cathedral now. Currently I'm working on a fairly large Victorian mansion that could easily be the bishop's house. I imagine all of the ruling would be handled in the first castle, religion in the second, and the third is currently abandoned and neglected. There should be a town hall but there is currently a nether spire residing in the plot of land that I'm considering using. Funny, I made the reactor way back at the beginning of the world and that little area is becoming the wealthy area lol
The exterior of the Victorian mansion is complete! I'm pretty proud of this one, I don't typically use mansard roofs or gables on my tower tops, but it had to be done.

This shot I couldn't pass up. I didn't have time to hide the GUI because I wanted the spooky sunset in the shot.
Once the Kindle Fire has received the 0.7.3 update I will make a new download link. I did use some quartz slabs and a couple of double chests so, if you don't have the current update, I don't know if it will work.

I think if it's possible, the bishop's house - sorry residence - should have a little private chapel for him to pray in when he's not busy.
Thank you sir. Also, the private chapel is a great idea, now I have a use for the top floor! Awesome.
