I made two maps and im getting no views how do i attract people to check out my maps?
I have re-posted my map a couple times to get people to view it, but it hasn't really been working. I would suggest going onto PlanetMinecraft.com and making an account. If you do could you please check out my maps? The name of one of them is "Open City Part 1" on page 5 or 6. Thanks. If you give me the name of your map, I will try it out.
Well, hopefully I can help you guys XD. I've been around the forums, and noticed a pretty specific pattern to getting your map noticed. It starts with the thread. I'll try and help both of you, and here is some info I've copy/pasted from a thread that had some similar problems. Hopefully this helps both of you guys out, and you don't have to follow this advice, but from what I've seen, this is what works best. Here you go: (Final note, this was a response to a guy who had a download link and "Enjoy the map" as the ONLY things on his OP. So, some of the stuff I say is directed towards him, not you. The stuff I reply with is still useful info)
First of all, what is the one place people are downloading your map from. THIS THREAD. Make it pretty, make me stay here for longer than 2 seconds, you know what I'm saying? You're selling your map from here, and right now, you're like a car salesman who asked me to buy a car he hasn't even shown me yet and the only thing he's told me is "This is a cool car" Well, not the greatest analogy, but you see what I'm getting at. This is the internet. The attention span of 90% of everyone here is about 5 seconds unless they see some reason to say here, like looking at pictures, or reading text. You don't have either of those things, so very few people are going to to be interested enough to click your link at this.
I have no idea what your map is. A horserace map? (again, I'm talking to a different person here, but still pay attention to what I'm saying) Pretty neat, how do I learn more, but I'm too lazy to click on the link (lots of people feel this way, just FYI)? what can you do? who knows what your map is like? If you want your map to get downloaded, you need 3 things for the most part:
1. Lots of details: challenges, basic summary of map, lots of lists and sentences with many commas. List the features of your map, like 2 different tracks, options for 2 laps, 4 laps and 8 laps and other stuff. (I don't know what your guys' maps are, but hopefully you get the point)
2. Screenshots: absolutely necessary (you don't have any, so anyone looking at this will probably leave instantly). There are only two things I do to map threads without screenshots. Post a comment like this, or leave immediately. Make sure to document your map, but do not spam. (For horse races, have a pic of spawn, the racetrack, the grandstands, a pic of people playing, you know). Finally, the great google will tell you how to post screenshots, just if you were wondering.
3. 20+ posts: This one is weird, but people need to be able to check your reputation as a poster. If you are like you are with 9 and 5 posts as I'm reading this, we (forum browsers/possible map players) have no idea what type of person you are. You could be an alternate account of someone who got banned earlier for posting viruses, or you could be a minecraft player who made a map and wants to share it with other people. Not all people investigate this far, but anyone who you want to download your map (youtubers, staff, famous forum-goers) will do this, because they know it is important and worth doing.
I hope this helps, and you need 2 or all of these things at least to have a chance of getting more than 3-5 downloads. If you only have 2, be sure to have those 2 things really well to supplement the missing point. As a final note, for the most part, no one cares how long the first post is for a minecraft map. Lots of people want to know as much as possible about the map before downloading anything.I hope this helps you get more map downloads, or keep people from getting viruses.
Thank you and sorry for the bit of rudeness there.

[Edit, checked your profile, looks like you put out pocket edition maps. I don't have anything against PE, but, not many people are technically advanced enough to download PE maps. You should be really happy if you hit 10 downloads, because I don't know anyone, out of 40 or so PE players I know, who downloads PE maps. Sorry, that's the way it is. Also, this is to the OP. Second guy, I don't know yet]

I'd like to counter a couple things getfugu said, though it's all good advice.
The first is the notion that MCPE maps don't get downloaded much. If you really look through the PE maps section, you will see that many maps get thousands of downloads. Of course, those maps have gained a good reputation, as well as the posters. It seems that city maps have been in great demand.
Personally, I think the best feature of MCPE is the ability to d/l maps. I first started playing on PS3 and didn't know what I was missing until I started d/ling maps for PE. Now, d/l's are all I play. I haven't made a new map in ages.
Now, as a regular map user, I'll tell you that first, I will never d/l any map that has "Parkour" in it's description. The absolutely WORST feature of PE is the lack of sensitive controls and this is what those jumping maps (it's NOT PARKOUR) all rely on. I look for maps that are unique and provide a real challenge. Mini games can be fun but they usually don't last long. If you have a challenge map, it really helps to make up a story line - even if it's silly! It's all about imagination!
If you have nothing unique or challenging, it's just another boring map out of so many others. You gotta make it stand out somehow. Words like 'awesome', 'epic' and 'amazing' are getting overused but they still work.
Currently I am in the middle of at least 4 challenge/survival maps and just 'completed' a very unique one. Another one is truly frustrating me but I'll figure it out eventually... I also d/l big creation maps (typically city maps) to explore but without a real challenge, it gets removed after a short while.
The second point was that it's technically 'difficult' to d/l and install PE maps. I think several simple procedures are explained in the forums. It is not at all difficult to do and can only take a few clicks. Perhaps even this is too much for the 6-10 age group but most kids over that age can out-tech many adults!
I d/l from a web browser and use a dual-pane file browser with automatic unzip feature and it's very easy to d/l and install maps.
The third point - I have been tracking several MCPE support sites and THIS ONE has been the most useful.
Before you counter that there's a difference between having deferring opinions, and arguing, I agree with that. However, in my opinion (that you may rightfully defer) you were arguing with me, which seems odd because I'm just trying to help the guy.
Also, I'm not trying to help them with making maps, that's not what they asked for. They didn't ask how to make a good map, they asked how to get downloads.
Obviously the basic portion of that is having a good map, but it seems like the two people who asked have that already. I'm just trying to help them with their threads, because that's what they wanted help with. Not to rain on your parade, but it doesn't seem like they want map suggestions, they seemed pretty fair on that front. Most things about minecraft doesn't get around by word of mouth, it gets around by people seeing things. In minecraft, that "seeing things" is videos and advertisement, with pretty-much no exceptions. So, the core of videos is the makers of the videos, and they see maps through....... advertising, it its different forms. I was trying to explain how your thread is a giant advertisement, and it should interest a person as much as possible.
I'm not going to refute your points, even though I want too, just because I don't feel this is the place to have an argument. Generally, I really enjoy friendly arguments, and I think they're fun to do and you can learn a lot from them. You seem like a pretty smart, well-opinionated person, so, if you're interested in just having arguments for fun just PM me. That sounds a lot crazier than I wanted it too but it gets worse the more I try to fix it : P.
