I'm not spreading false info.
there is nothing confirmed about infinite maps, there is about survival and redstone. but if you combine all of those: it gets heavy...
You are spreading false information. You said it can handle infinite maps when we found in fact it can.
see it this way: A lot of phones can't handle it as of now, if they added infinite maps; more phones couln't handle it.
also: spreading false info woult be: "notch has confirmed that they are never going to add infinite maps". my post was merely an assumption, as there is no official info regarding infinite maps.
we'll see if it gets added, i'm hoping they work on survival first...
to use your words: owned...
No now you are changing your words. You said they would not be added ( false info ) you don't know that
You said phones can't handle infinite maps. You didn't say some you said "phones" as a whole. (false info 2 )
Your "assumption" was wrong. He asked a question and instead of knowing you assumed and provided false information
Go ahead dig yourself a bigger hole

Just because I can put 1000 lbs on the bar does not mean I can lift it.
Just because the game has infinite maps doesn't mean that the phones can support it.
You can DO it, but it's not that hard to figure out that after a certain point, the worlds would get too big for the phones to handle. So now you are correct, oh, the infinite map is there all right, but now you have 1 hour of battery life, lag, and crashing.
Nothing has been confirmed at all.
Most likely there will be infinite maps, but it won't be a good idea.

Did you read the posts above? Eden is a game for iDevices and it works fine. Eden has infinite maps.
On topic:
I would suspect phones will be able to handle large maps just like the computer. it only deals with so much of the map at a time, so all it comes down to is how much space is allotted for saves.
With the right coding it can be done. Mooncraft and Eden are good examples. Although if it will or not is unknown. We can assume they do because survival mode will get cramped with these little maps.

I downloaded Eden just to see how infinite maps might work, and I think the VERY noticeable lag when new "chunks" or whatever units are used in that game are loaded is something that will have to be worked on. Eden also appears to have a smaller lower vertical limit.

This is because Eden makes chunks as you move towards the edge. Minecraft and Mooncraft make bee chunks as you move so there will be no freezing.
I just hate people calling an android or iphone or ipod "just a a phone" what you have in your hands is around 1000plus times more powerfull processor than the one i used to learn computers 12 years ago. And indeed they can handle a lot of ****. I am a systems engineer and i tell you that all you can imagine of minecraft is possible with creative coding. There are way more resource consuming games in the appstore.
Its not a matter if the devices can handle it, its a matter of when Daniel Kaplan and the PE team returns from vacations. Thats about it.
You have a full featured computer in your hands, dont get fooled by marketing.

eden has infinite maps yes but pe is going to have redstone survival, crafting, the likes, for a phone to handle all of that and play smooth its more likely that large maps will be available but not infinite, its all the things that are being added that will effect the size of maps, learn to think, i could care either way
I think there will be but, I dont think so at the same time.
But its obvious,Because its still in alpha But,Its just a question.
I mean,Eden has infinite maps,So will minecraft?
Just a question.
Welcome, The new grammar nazi everybody!
?
Eden is a game for the iPhone, Eden has infinite maps.
That's what they said about Survival mode + Redstone.
Please stop spreading false information, there most likely WILL BE infinite worlds or atleast very, very, very large.

Its true... Eden does have infinite maps,And i have only 2 gb on my ipad, It runs alot smoother than most other games.
Mooncraft has infinite maps too, and it runs the most smooth.

He didn't say that, he ment the same type of games. I know a couple that the graphic quality is the same as Cod 4.
Look at infinity blades graphics.
Do what eden does, render a small chunk at a time. :biggrin.gif:
