I like stone bicks, so mining cobblestone at a cobblestone generator and a nice oak farm, about 8 furnaces 2 turning oak into charcoal and 6 cooking stone.
Not the fastest way, but it gets me to 30 and the materials I need.
I just find the nearest mob spawner(best for me is skeleton spawner) and do a bog standard room around it,water below to push them to to a water ladder to carry them up and then drop into my waiting arms
Interesting. How quickly does it take you to level 30? And can you please link a tutorial if you can? (I have no experience making traps).

That's probably the funnest way to gain XP - doing what you love. I personally need to grind XP so I can get the enchantments I need to beat the Ender Dragon for the first time.
Mining Quartz and/or farming a Blaze Spawner. Gets me resources and Level 30 in ~15 minutes. I also occasionally get Level 30 mining, but that more of a by product of needing resources, rather than intentional XP gathering.
You only need a Infinity I, Power IV/V bow and iron armour. You can do this in a minimum of two bow enchantments, and one combining them on an Anvil.
Hmm, I guess I should attempt the battle soon, seeing as I already have a bow with Infinite+Flame+Power IV, along with enchanted iron chestplate & boots.
i build mob grinders. Blaze farms to start, 30 in about 10 minutes, then mine resources for overworld mob spawner, 30 in 3 or 4 minutes on that. After that is an enderman farm which gets 30 levels in under 2 minutes.
This is the same kinda design i've been using since i started minecraft when it was released on ps4 (i've made a few minor changes to suit how i play but it's basically the same thing)
It's very cheap in materials.
Since tu19 i have been getting more mobs into my collection point which is cool, and if you do make one, have a laval pool or fire pit for garbage disposal nearby, along with a few chests, because the drops mount up very fast.
I also sometimes use an overworld zombie pigmen farm (basically making a large grid of nether portals and stacking lots more on top of each other with water below to drop them into a collection point) but it's not as good on console as it seems to be on pc,no matter how many portals i make i don't get near the volume of mobs pc gets, but it's good to stock up on gold if you make lots of powered rails etc.It also takes a lot longer to make and can grow to be very large so can be a bit of an eyesore.
I went in there with unenchanted iron armour and my hotbar (from left to right), was Iron Pickaxe, Iron Sword, Bow, Water Bucket, Cobblestone, Cobblestone and then assorted potions like Instant Healing, in case she landed a lucky shot with the Ender Acid projectile. You can also take extra cobblestone and/or water buckets in case you need them to stop Enderman or in case she breaks the source block.
Try not to stay around the portal, as you can do massive damage when she hovers there using your bow. When breaking the Ender Crystals, use your bow on them all, except the ones with iron bars. Pillar up quickly, mine through the bars, put water down on the top of the cobblestone pillar then break the crystal. The water should make sure you don't get knocked off, but if you do, move into the stream.
Most importantly, take a piston and a lever (or redstone torch, block etc.) to get the Dragon Egg.
Obligatory Update:
Not only did I successfully make a Zombie XP Farm just like the one you linked to, but I also beat the game with my cousin and achieved the Platinum trophy. The battle was much easier than I thought; I only used a few potions. Afterwards, we enchanted our stuff and got the dragon egg. We plan to eventually make an Enderman XP farm.

Same. But I've a triple spawner in my world and it simply cranks out XP. Using the same water ladder/20 block drop method. Took awhile to get the most efficient design to get all 3 working without mobs clogging up the water ladders but solved it by using 2 double wide ladders that feed into 1 single kill chamber.

Just mining. The Nether Quartz works well too.
Here's something I do as well: I have wall to wall furnaces lining my current basement. They are all filled with gold and silver (few are other things).
I just keep adding more if I have no need for XP. That way, if I do need some quick levels, I can just start emptying some.
No one ever mentions village trading... i use it a lot and have several double chests of emerald blocjs...villagers give you 4.25 xp per trade pigmen and endermen give 5xp per kill theres really no difference, one could level up faster trader with the right setup...
on utube it's by far the fastest Xp farm with loot 😀
Look and enjoy
I wouldn't say its the fastest by far... i just gave a look at it, and i see alot of failed attempts as it's built with solid blocks... iv builf a few of ilmangos simple mob farms, but modified them, as mangos where 16 pads high, and i didnt want them that hight as i wanted to keep them below y 62 so i halfed them to 8 pads and built four of them, last time i tested them i got 22000 items in an hour or six double chest... but i dont use it for xp, but mango has an auto xp mode for it, but iv never needed it, go check him out...
Yes but we can harvest potatoes and carrots automatically, i have 16 of uniary bits crop farms, they produce over 8000 carrots and 8000 potatoes automatically while i sleep at night, so il i gotta do is trade ; ) and emeralds are a better trade off then bones gunpower and rotton flesh...
And its "ilmango" incase you just type in mango, and while your there you should check out "gnembon" too there both scicraft members and i always suggest people to sub to them... =D
I make a contraption with a skeleton or zombie spawner. Dig two blocks below spawner and add water so it pushes mobs to an area where you make a water elevator. Then make them drop again so they are almost dead and punch them like mike tyson.

Why recently are so many dead posts being revived? Do people not see the last post dates are years ago let alone the first post? If something in a post dated 4 years ago doesn't work you might want to youtube designs from this year...

Its more curiosity than being unfriendly as there are about 10 posts in recent weeks being pushed to the front page that are from 4+ years ago, like how are you finding these posts rather than more recent ones on the front page? How are you not noticing the dates are 4+ years ago? Its just extremely odd and confusing, on a site where every query, farm, block, spawn is repeated multiple times a year about the game, people find and reply to posts that havent been active for years so are probably on page 100 of the site, so just...How? Lol. I guess the bigger question in reality is why people, rather than just youtubing 'PS4 minecraft X', instead go through the effort of making an account, posting a message and then waiting for someone to reply when theres no guarantees they even know what they are talking about (we've had Xbone people reply to PS4 issues thinking they're the same version) is beyond questionable.
What do you guys do? Perhaps you use a mob farm you'd like to tell us about?
Discuss.

Would have been a much better video had the create not spoken a word.

So thanks for the help, you two.

I actually like to breed animals, it's pretty fast at a large enough scale and isn't risky at all.
I usually go with the blaze farm, but I recently got around to messing with the ocean monument, and I found that a guardian farm does GREAT.

Hi all
built the zombie farm as in video in post 13. The zombies don’t rise up the sign/water column?
4 hours wasted or is there a fix?
on PS4 edition if that helps? Would really like to get it working.
Thanks

Friendly lot in here.
