Notch just revealed that Mojang won the interim injunction, allowing them to keep the name Scrolls for their upcoming CCG-alike game! While Zenimax can appeal this ruling, Notch was nonetheless optimistic about the outcome, as were numerous employees at Mojang. If you're fluent in Swedish, you can see the released document right here, or you can find a shortened English version here.
The original debate started when developer Mojang decided to make the working title of their new CCG-like game "Scrolls", which prompted software publisher Bethesda Softworks to respond, citing potential confusion between Mojang's Scrolls and their own Elder Scrolls franchise.
Some time into the proceedings, Notch offered to settle the dispute with a friendly game of Quake 3, a challenge which was not answered. The proposed solution was intended to ease any potential PR incidents, and provide an amicable solution to the dispute. The challenge went unanswered, although Notch has expressed an interest in playing against them for entertainment purposes, despite recent developments.
Zenimax can go **** themselves, but Mojang was just playing the "I'm a poor indie dev, lighten up" card, without realizing that that doesn't work when your first game sells millions in its alpha and beta stages.

Net_Bastard's Epic Low-res! As much awesomeness that you can cram into a 5x5 texture pack, and then some!

Yes he was playing that card but he did offer to give up the name entirely but they still wanted to sue him anyways and imo that's not right.
Was there really ever any way this could have turned out in Bethesda's favor? xD
The lawsuit was frivolous at best and shouldn't have even got as far as it did. Mojang can relax (more than usual) now =P
Gratz guys and gals ^^
@ExCinis
Exactly, it was stupid >.> They'll prolly try to sue Mojang every few years now ^^; it's the latest trend with big companies. Shame for them that Mojang doesn't wanna play ball, they just wanna play Quake xD

I loled at the first time I saw this lawsuit. How did Bethesda even think they would have won, greed and fame must be getting to them. No matter, this should have pulled Mojang into a bigger spotlight as being something a gaming master Bethesda fears would stole spotlight from them.
Next up, when Skyrim comes out, Make all sorts of Minecraft/Scrolls related Mods for it.
"Huh? Elder Scrolls? What's that? Morrowind is a great game, by the way. Skyrim looks cool too. No, seriously, what the hell are the "elder scrolls" you speak of? I've never heard of that game."
^And this is why the mojang won. Nobody calls it Elder Scrolls III/V/whatever, just be the more well known name. It's now, if notch had called it "The 'Morrow Winds", then I could see the lawsuit being reasonable.
