Ever wanted to use command blocks in survival without any weird command block contraptions to make it work? Well, now you can.
This is a simple mod for Minecraft that adds a simple crafting recipe and the ability to interact with command blocks in survival mode. As of Minecraft 1.10 it also allows you to craft and use structure blocks.
I made this mod because I wanted to enhance my survival Minecraft experience with some command blocks. It's up to you how much you want to use them to cheat. I am going to be doing a Let's play of my adventures with command blocks in single player, so feel free to check that out.
More info in the video below:
Changes that this mod makes:
Added crafting recipes:
Added recipes to switch between all 3 types of command blocks
Allow you to break command blocks and structure blocks with pickaxes
Makes it so you receive a command block as a drop when you break a command block
Makes it so you receive a structure block when you break a structure block
Allow you to open, edit, and interact with command blocks in survival mode
Allow you to open, edit and interact with structure blocks in survival mode
Instructions:
Just move the SCB-Version.jar into your Forge mods folder and play!
That recipe seems too cheap for something that is immensely powerful... Maybe a Beacon instead of Redstone would be better.
I wanted the recipe to be easy because I didn't want to spend so much time collecting resources, I could never use the command blocks themselves. Even the simplest of command block structures can take 3-4 command blocks, and the more advanced ones hundreds!
Yeah but you can just do a /give @p command_block 64 and put a lever by.
That would defeat the purpose! The idea with this mod is you'd make yourself soft rules on how to use commands like this. For example, how I'm playing is you can only use the /give command if you delete the item from somewhere else first. Everything needs to have a source!
Hey, idk if this mod is still being worked on at all, but if it is, I have a suggestion. Make a config option to change the recipe to something more expensive, for players who want to be endgame before they start using command blocks. This way, you can still have the cheap recipe for the strict rules you've defined in your Youtube series, but for people who want less-strict rules with a more expensive recipe, like me, they can have what they want just by changing one little value in the config file.

I hope someday there's more magic in Minecraft, though I know it's not likely to happen. In the meantime, I play modded a lot. I enjoy a lot of other games too, so don't expect me to be on the forums all the time.
Idk if he's even still working on this, but hopefully he will.

He hasn't been active on the forums since 2016. I think it's safe to say this is dead.

Hey Classic_Tim I have noticed many people are wondering when you're going to update this. Just curious if i can use your idea to make it for 1.12. Just for other people. Thanks.

Mod has now been updated to Minecraft 1.9.4
Mod has now been updated to Minecraft 1.10 and structure blocks have been changed just like command blocks to use them in Survival Mode.
