SENTRIES - HOME DEFENSE
V1.3
Minecraft 1.10.2 and 1.11
Welcome to the Sentries mod! The Sentries mod adds a new block, the sentry, that is powered by cores and configured by modifiers to provide ways of keeping your home safe. Sentry blocks will perform different functions based on what modifier it's using.
Sentries are powered by cores, which are separated into 4 tiers. Tier 1 is the weakest type of core and tier 4 is the strongest. Modifier items change the effects of a sentry when used with a core. This is overall a very simple mod with a large effect.
Right-clicking a sentry opens an interface where you can place a core and modifier to power the sentry. The interface will tell you the core's tier, the modifier's type, and the effect the sentry will put out. All sentries have a set radius that can be increased by improving the core.
Effect Types:
Nature
Tier 1: Earth
Tier 2: Harvest
Tier 3: Overgrowth
Tier 4: Genesis
Periodically spawns tall grass on grass blocks, also speeds up the growth of crops. Higher tiers increase the rate of growth and range of the sentry. Tier 4 sentries will target damage zombies and skeletons.
Pulse
Tier 1: Pulse
Tier 2: Shock
Tier 3: Forcefield
Tier 4: Massacre
Periodically damages all enemies within a set range. Damage and range increases as core tier increases.
Darts
Tier 1: Dart
Tier 2: Archer
Tier 3: Machine Gun
Tier 4: Dartstorm
Shoots arrows at mobs within a set range. Higher tiers increase the range, damage, and fire rate. Tier 1 dart sentries can only target 1 mob, increasing to 3 mobs for tier 2. Tier 3 and 4 will attack all mobs in range.
Guardian
Tier 1: Defender
Tier 2: Warden
Tier 3: Safeguard
Tier 4: Guardian
Gives the player buffs when within the sentry's range. Tier 1 only gives resistance. Tier 2 adds health boost, tiers 3 adds absorption, tier 4 adds regeneration. Higher tiers increase the duration and strength of each effect and increase the range.
Smite
Tier 3: Smite
Tier 4: Thunderstorm
Strikes an enemy within range with lightning. Thunderstorm sentries strike all enemies in range. Higher tiers increase damage and range. The lightning does not place fire blocks and tier 1 and 2 cores are ineffective with this modifier.
Frost
Tier 1: Chill
Tier 2: Frost
Tier 3: Arctic
Tier 4: Permafrost
Periodically spawns snow blocks and freezes water within a small range. Has a chance to freeze water into packed ice. Applies a slow effect to mobs. Can chill the surroundings cold enough to damage mobs at tier 3 and above. Higher tiers increase the strength of the slow effect, damage, and range.
Flame
Tier 1: Ignite
Tier 2: Blaze
Tier 3: Combustion
Tier 4: Wildfire
Melts snow and ice blocks and sets nearby mobs on fire. At tier 3 and above, fire blocks are randomly placed within the range, so be careful! Higher tiers increase the melting rate, fire duration, and range.
Poison
Tier 2: Poison
Tier 3: Blight
Tier 4: Plague
Poisons nearby mobs. Tier 3 adds a weakness effect, and tier 4 adds a wither effect. Higher tiers increase the range and strength of the effects. This modifier is one of the strongest at tier 4.
Insanity
Tier 3: Frenzy
Tier 4: Insanity
Targets a mob within the sentry's radius and forces it to succumb to insanity. Mobs effected will attack other mobs as if they were the player. Creepers are unaffected, however insane mobs will attack creepers, so be careful. Tier 4 increases the range and causes the insanity effect to apply to ALL mobs within the sentry's range. Tier 4 sentries will also calm the minds of creepers, disabling their explosive tendencies. Insanity sentries do not apply to slimes, they're mindless blobs.
Combat
Tier 1: Combat
Tier 2: Charge
Tier 3: Battle
Tier 4: War
Combat sentries give the player buffs to help them defeat their enemies. Tier 1 and 2 combat sentries will give the strength effect, and higher tiers add the invisibility effect as well an increased range and strength.
Wind
Tier 1: Wind
Tier 2: Tempest
Tier 3: Windstorm
Tier 4: Hurricane
Wind sentries conjure up a strong gust of wind to blow mobs away. Higher tiers increase the strength of the wind.
Elemental
Tier 4: Elemental Fury
The elemental sentry is perhaps the strongest sentry there is. It's only tier, the fourth tier, targets all hostile mobs in the area and chooses one of four effects: Magmaball: Launches a ball of magma that explodes on contact with a mob and sets it on fire. Can travel through blocks. Earthen fangs: Summons fangs from the earth to snap at the target, causing damage. Water Splash: Summons a brief jet of water beneath the target and launches them up into the air. Also applies a slow effect. Air Launch: Launches the target up into the air...like a rocket.
You might've seen this mod floating around before. The original owner is mc_JT9, who is actually me. So don't report this post.

Thanks so much for making this mod! It is beautifully done and the modifiers are awesome! I know this is probably a single-player only mod but would it be difficult to make it compatible with multiplayer/servers too? I apologize if this is not the right place for bug reports, but some of the modifiers (nature, wind etc.) are crashing when used in the minecraft server (I placed the mod jar file in both the client's and server's mod folder). Fortunately though other modifiers work great.
