Corvias’ Configuration Files for JustAnotherSpawner (CorvConfig)
Version 0.4
CorvConfig isn’t really a mod. It’s a set of configuration files FOR a mod (JustAnotherSpawner by Crudedragos). Once set up, these can potentially fix or at least allow you to fix issues with the spawning of mobs in minecraft. JustAnotherSpawner is an extremely powerful forge mod that gives you complete control over passive spawns. JAS can control when, where, and how many mobs can spawn, including mobs added by mods. JAS works in a very basic fashion without tinkering, but some major configuration is required to fix many of the common issues folks have with mob spawning.
The work involved in configuring JAS may be outside the skill and patience for some. That’s where CorvConfig has you covered. CorvConfig is a pre-made set of configuration files for JAS. I’ve already done the hard work for you! Here are the highlights:
Includes configurations for Vanilla and a number of mods, including Twilight Forest, Thaumacraft, Biomes O’ Plenty, and of course, Mo’ Creatures. Couple other mods, too.
Vanilla squids heavily nerfed. They no longer appear EVERYWHERE.
Fixes the spawning of water mobs from Mo Creatures! Sharks, Dolphins, fish, jellyfish etc will spawn properly!
No more “runaway spawns” of vanilla mobs with Mo Creatures installed.
JAS’s signature feature is the ability to create groups of biomes and assign specific mobs to spawn there. CorvConfig groups Vanilla and BoP Biomes into twelve climate groups based on temperature and humidity levels, along with a few "special" categories (Thaumacraft Taint, Nether, End, etc). This means MoC and other mobs appear roughly in the places you would expect to see them in the real world. No more crocodiles on mountain tops! No more squid in your swimming pool! Mobs that are common in one biome, will be rare or unable to spawn in others. (It’s not perfect, though. I can’t yet control the different texture variations used internally by MoC, but I’ve got some ideas to experiment with for the future.)
TF mobs only show up in the TF dimension (with the exception of penguins. I wanted penguins in my overworld glaciers. And a couple squirrels here and there, too.)
Don’t like a mob, or think it’s too rare/common? Want TF mobs in the overworld? Just change the configs!
Hopefully they'll save someone a weekend or two configuring JAS.
Installation (Updated)
Read very carefully. You may have to change some config options for other mods, so make backups!
You don't need to have the exact mods I built this configuration around. HOWEVER, having mob-adding mods I didn't create a config for will have unpredictable results, since JAS will attempt to automatically create a config for that mod's mobs, which may or may not throw off the balance of my configs. All I can say is try it out.
Mods that add biomes which I haven't created configs for simply won't work. The game will start ok, but I don't think mobs will spawn there. I could be wrong. Try it out.
I’m going to assume you already have Forge installed.
Download CorvConfig-v0.3.zip (direct) and extract it. I’m not walking you through how to extract a zip file, or move files around your computer. Google it.
CorvConfig does not go in your mods folder. Copy the “JustAnotherSpawner” folder from the CorvConfig zip to the “config” folder of your minecraft profile folder (the same place where the “mods” folder is). If a folder by that name already exists inside the “config” folder, rename, move, or delete it.
In order for this to work, you MUST remove/disable ANY mods that perform mob spawning, such as CustomMobSpawner. Other mods may have a custom method for spawning mods built into them as well. Look in their config files for options related to mob spawning, and turn them off.
For Mo Creatures specifically, edit the config\MoCreatures\MoCreatures.cfg file and change ALL of the “B:canspawn=true” lines to “B:canspawn=false”. In MoCSettings.cfg, make sure “B:forceDespawns” is set to “false.”
Upon entering a world for the first time after installing JAS and CorvConfig, I recommend you run this command: /jas killall (Note: I don't think this kills pets, but make sure you back-up your world first just in case!!!). This will kill off any mobs in your world that were generated previously, and allow JAS to generate new ones based on the configs.
That should pretty much do it. Maybe. Walk around in a world for a bit and see if anything is different. I haven’t thoroughly tested this yet, so places like the End and Nether might be...different. Expect bugs (notice the sub 1.0 version number?). I also can’t guarantee what will happen with different biome mods, such as Extrabiomes XL (If this takes off, I may add in support for it).
These configs come with no promise of quality or support. Back up your world, or try them on a test world first. Use them at your own risk, edit them as you see fit, distribute them while crediting me, and include them in your modpack if you want.
Un-derped some old spawn tags that created a situation where Vanilla hostiles couldn't spawn. Ever.
Future Plans
NOTE: I am NOT adding support for more mods other than the ones listed here UNTIL the current set of configs is balanced.
Do another pass of tweaks on mob spawn weights for each biome group
Accomplish TF-only spawning through a different method and integrate the TF biomes into the other biome groups
Refine Mo Creatures spawning further by controlling the “type” of mob spawn. (e.g. instead of spawning a random BigCat in some biomes, spawn the lion variant of BigCat in savannas, the tiger variant in jungles, etc.).
The configs themselves don't need to be edited, but you do need to remove CustomMobSpawner and TURN OFF any built-in spawning behavior other mods might have. Read the install instructions in the first post. I've updated them with more details.
I did what you tell me and still MoC mobs dont spawn

Doesn't matter what the press says. Doesn't matter what the politicians or the mobs say. Doesn't matter if the whole country decides that something wrong is something right. This nation was founded on one principle above all else: the requirement that we stand up for what we believe, no matter the odds or the consequences. When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world — "No, you move

Hmmm. Are you using Biomes O' Plenty?
When you type "/jas killall", what does the chat output? It should tell you how many mobs it killed. Did you set all of the MoC mobs to FALSE in MoCreatures.cfg?
It sounds to me like you have JAS installed, but not the config files. What folder did you put them in?
Both Primitive and Lycanite along with MoC Mobs respective configs are edited so they wont spawn and CMS isnt installed.
Try temporarily removing Lycanite and Primitive Mobs and tell me if there's a difference. I don't have any experience with those mods, so I don't know how JAS interperets them by default. It could be that because I don't have a config for those, JAS is generating some defaults with spawn-weights that are "out-weighing" the ones in my configs.
When you type /jas killall in the chat console, what happens? It should say the number of mobs it killed with a breakdown of each mob category. Could you send that to me?

I get 96 Deaths: Monsters:57 Creatures:17 Ambient:22
Seeing some MoC Creatures but not as much as I'd Like and I'm not seeing any MoC hostiles
That seems really low. Myy configs have the caps raised up so it should be more like the mid to upper 200's. Are you SURE you aren't running off of JAS' default configs? Try deleting the JustAnotherSpawner folder from your config folder, and copying mine from the zip file again.
If you are positive you put my configs in the right place, then this might be a case where you'll have to edit the configs yourself until I have a chance to integrate Lycanite and Primitive mobs. go into "config/JustAnotherSpawner/WorldSettings/DEFAULT/SpawnListEntries" There will be a .cfg file for each mod that adds mobs. If you open one of those, you'll notice that for each mob, there's a section for each biome group. You'll see four numbers seperated by hyphens. like this: "100-4-0-4". That first number is the spawn weight. Try raising it by 20 for each mob in the Monsters section.

I'll get back to you then
Edit: Nothing Changes I re downloaded the Config and installed it
Noticing That Whenever I use any premade/edited config I'm not seeing many MoC Creatures aside from Ostriches, snakes,Elephants (very rarely) and bugs(even I have them disabled). This also applies to MoC hostiles

That's very strange, because that's the exact experience I had right after I installed JAS for the first time, before I tuned anything. I'm not sure what's going on. Could you maybe send me this file: logs\fml-client-latest.log?
Okay So Iv'e edited the Default JAS config for the following mods/groups
-Lycanite
-Vanilla
-Natura
-MoC
I've kinda simplified it so that the Weighted chance of mobs is always 1-10 instead of the normal 1-100.
and so far I'm liking the results (except for no MoC hostiles, No MoC Watercreatures, and only snakes, ostriches, and sometimes elephants, but very rarely.)
Do you have any idea why MoC mobs arent spawning as frequently as Lycanite or Vanilla?
Edit: I used the command /jas canspawnhere MoCreatures.(MobName)
So My question now is does every Hostile/water creature/Creature MoC Mob need a specific tag in order to spawn?

0.4:Future Plans
EDIT: I should add that I haven't actually tested it. But it should work.
Because I'm only using MoC (along with Lycanite's mobs, Primitive Mobs and Natura) and all I get
is Lycanite Mobs (mostly water creatures) and No MoC and Vanilla Mobs.
Do these configs need any editing or are they good to go?
Looking forward to Lycanite's mobs compatibility.
