[HOT][Forge][1.6.2] Villager Army Mod 1.6.2 A [The Recruitment Center][500+ downloads] Introduction:
This mod adds a new village structure: The Recruitment Center.
It is a good place to keep recruited villagers [although they will roam around freely through the village]. That being said, villagers can now be recruited, which makes them attack many hostile mobs and follow anyone with a trumpet or loudspeaker in their hand.
All you have to do is left-click on them with a contract! Also, it allows people to craft "build kits", which villagers can use to instantly create structures. Simply get the kit in hand and left-click on the villager! Installation instructions:
1. You need Forge for this mod which you may find here if you don't have it.
2. In %appdata%/roaming/.minecraft, create or find a folder called "mods"
3. Put Testificate-Army-Mod-A-for-Minecraft-1.6.2.zip in that folder.
4. Run Minecraft with Forge!
5. Enjoy
NOTE: Loudspeakers and trumpets are the same item; the config file determines which one is used and which one isn't. That being said, the crafting recipe also changes.
Looks like a cool mod, but you should really work on the tread appearance. Also, don't ask for downloads (And changing the number 1000 in title, 5000 at bottom)If it is a good enough mod, people will download it.Format your thread, center the download, put screenshots in spoiler (Reduces load time by a little)Also this is a forum, not a place for HTML. will not work here
Thanks.. Well I'm working on the appearance of the thread.
Can we get some pictures of the actual mobs, and them fighting monsters?
I agree with this. As of now, no one knows by reading if these new testificates are melee attackers, or ranged attackers. I will assume that you took the easy route and had them as melee attackers.
1) Also, if they are only melee attackers, will you add in the possibility of making them ranged as an option too?
2) May I suggest you also post the recipes so we know how to make the contract and the item(s)?
While this may be your first mod, you should still consider what people will start asking especially if you're new to the forums. People have no idea what is in the mod unless proper pictures are supplied, and even then, people will still act cautiously due to the mass amounts of viruses. Please supply some pictures detailing the villagers in action and possibly a virus scan stating the file's status. You did, however, post a picture of the structure, but that structure could've been built by you for all we know. Understand that I am not accusing your posting as a virus-infected mod; it's just some benefitial advice for you if you do decide to update this mod or post new mods in the future.
3) Now for another question, how long are the testificates contracted to you?
4) If it is for the rest of their life, you should add in some cost for balancing, such as a golden ingot for payment and, Is there a limit that you can hire?
5) Will they attack mobs without needing you to first attack the desired target, or are they like dogs and wait for you to choose a target?
6) Will they recognize other mobs from other mods?
Maybe for future addons, have multiple types of villager soldiers, such as archery, armored villagers, and potion-carrying villagers. As the tier increases, make sure to increase the cost of ingots also to keep balance; or perhaps allow villagers to use items that are given to them. Your mod does have potential, and I will be sure to keep an eye on this mod for a bit before downloading; do not give up before you even have a chance even if this mod lacks the download count. Give it time and people will come to recognize it; advertise it by making videos showcasing the mod (videos are best since it actually portrays your mod in action instead of some static "stills" from images), and be more active on the forum so people will trust you more.
7) For the last and finale question I have for you, is this mod compatible with other FORGE mods?
Most FORGE mods are compatible with other FORGE mods, but do note that there are a couple of mods out there that alter villagers. I say this because I want to know if this mod is compatible with the Minecraft Comes Alive mod. That mod too alters the villagers. You should probably think about adding a compatibility/incompatibility list and a CHANGELOG when you do update this mod. Good luck!

I am also wondering about compatibility with villager mods. Going to try it with Revamp and see if it causes any issues
Well, it doesn't seem to interfere with Revamp. But the actual spawning of the buildings is not the greatest. Very often they spawn right over other buildings cutting them off or spawn on the side of a hill and end up suspended. But then Minecrafts village spawning has always been horrible to begin with....
I haven't actually tried the contract system yet because trying to keep villagers alive in 1.6.2 with the stupid overkill zombie spawning is nearly impossible

Maybe a new skin for the villagers you contract? An armored villager skin perhaps?
