so does the new mobs attack the players at all? For example, if I wanted to side with a team (American or British), will the opposing team attack me too? If not, will this be an option for future updates? Will be keeping an eye on this mod. Also, is it possible for you to change the mob's animation when holding their guns? Make it so they look like they're holding a bow and not a sword when holding on to the guns (like vanilla bow being charged/pulled-animations when F5 is pressed) using two hands.
Honestly, this looks like a pretty good mod, although can you change what side you are on?

So after messing around with this mod, I notice a few problems:
1) These mobs may carry guns, but boy are they blind; perhaps allow them to see and sense enemies further than the normal 16 blocks away.
In its current state, I found that soldiers don't really try to go after the enemy at all, they just stare at you even if you attack them from outside of their detection range.
2) The melee units are useless as they don't know what to do in a fight.
I set up a fight between the 2 armies to see how they would battle. The gun carriers shoot at each other, but the melee units stay in one spot(actually, both unit types remain in the same spot; it's just that range units react to the enemy and shoot so it looks like they're actually moving around). It's rare, but sometimes melee units will finally attack close by enemy units.
3) Honestly, I believe all the units should be range units. No unit should be strictly melee, but a combination of both types depending on how far enemy unit is from the defending unit.
For example, a soldier shoots his enemies at far range; upon close combat, he takes out his sword in place of his gun. I play my vanilla worlds on AMPLIFIED world-type; meaning, my mountains are humongous. I see the enemy before they can even sense me (I play on very short distance too). I easily take them out one by one with a bow, and not one of them would retaliate back (this makes the mod useless and redundant if the mobs can't even fight back.)
4) As night fell, I set up camp and await for daylight before continuing to attack the enemy.
However, I hear zombies munching on bones above me. I go and take a look, and I see that soldiers do not recognize undead units as the enemy. They all just stand around, not helping each other out at all, and so a single zombie manages to kill off the entire platoon.
5) Both Americans and British units seem to randomly spawn in groups everywhere.
While this may seem logical as it gives the illusion of having armies set up camp everywhere and gives off a "surprise" attack strategy, their spawns are really just too random. Make it seem like they were waiting there with a purpose, and not just brainlessly walking around.
SUGGESTIONS:
Increase the sight and sense of your units to about 64 blocks. This will actually make them a threat to players who play on large structure worlds. During the time of muskets, while you may have range as an advantage, you most likely did not have accuracy. Your muskets are way too accurate for players to shoot the enemies with- up to 200+ blocks away while the enemy can only scope you from 12-16 blocks away! For now, instead of adding in new units, merge the two unit types into one single unit, wielding both a sword and a gun.
During the reload, perhaps add in a reloading mp3 to make it sound like soldiers are actively engaging the enemy instead of waiting around. During shots fire, perhaps add in 3x the smoke particle as there was a lot of wasted gun powder back then. Also during shots fired, have your units animate the "bow-pull" animation, but holding a gun for appropriateness. As of current, the enemy may be looking away not even aiming his gun at me, and a bullet just randomly flies my way without the unit even realizing he shot me (observe vanilla skeleton behavior for a better visual, they turn and aim their bow at the player before a single arrow is launched at the player).
During the spawn of these mobs, make it so your mobs spawn along side some random blocks! A block can be anything from a plank with a torch on top of it; a fire pit (lit or staled); and maybe a chest near by filled with tea and food. This gives off an illusion that these soldiers did not randomly spawn here like animals; instead, they chose to setup camp for the night. Speaking of night, make your mobs aware of all hostile mobs, and not just the enemy team.
Finally, add in large British ships that randomly generate with the terrain. It can either be docked at shore, or even just in the middle of the ocean. Have units spawn in the ships and guard them. This allows us to see how the soldiers came about. For the Americans, perhaps have them spawn along side normal villagers. They've become the natives of the new world, so they should be the ones who live in the villages.
Sorry to be harsh, especially if this was your first mod; but I see the potential it can have, and so I am giving it all I got to make sure more players will tune in and download your mod, thank you.
I think it would be awesome to have an option to choose a faction, like you can choose to be on the British side or the Americans. This would be cool for like a multiplayer war. I highly recommend you implement this feature. And maybe add bases where you can find supplies and where you can make an army. Also maybe add some hessians where you can hire them to fight for you and your army...? These are some suggestions that I think might help this mod, I hope you also like them. Thank you for your time!
