There is no such thing as over preparing, especially when you are in hardcore mode XD. I got pretty lucky with the enchant and when I get enough netherite my gears would be basically max expect for thorns for 2 of my armor piece and mending! (this still took me around 20 hours to get...yeah...)
Don't forget to wear 1 piece of gold armor to keep the piglins from attacking you on sight!
This, also remember that a piglin brute will attack you nonetheless so prepare some other mean of protection like golden apples as the guy has an axe that may render your shield inoperative and does 13 damage on one hit with the axe.
Some fire protection pots sure to do you well too!
As far as I know, you can't have potions of fire protection before going to the nether, unless you're in multiplayer and someone gives one to you or nether wart/blaze rods.

You can't get fire protection potions before entering the Nether, beacause you can't obtain nether wart or magma creams outside the Nether. However you can find brewing stands and other potions (such as splash weakness) inside churches and igloos throughout the overworld.
According to the Wiki you can get fire resistance potions by killing witches while they are drinking them, with luck or good timing.
Then setting the witches on fire would trigger the drinking of fire resistance, which would increase chances of them dropping it while killing them mid drink.
I forgot they even had fire resistance potions they could use haha.
Yeah, fire resistance potions are nice but I wouldn't consider them essential to start with.
Sure, I'd definitely want fire resistance before doing much mining but on first arrival I'd be more worried about protection enchantments to protect against stray hoglins, ghasts etc.
It would be a shame if you just fell into lava and lost it all. Remember, death is cheap, equipment is not.
I would instead place the portal in secure location and enter it nake-butted, with a stone tool set and cobble stack to fortify the portal, and maybe a ranged weapon with some arrows to kill a ghast, then do some recon without gear. After locating the target like a fortress or bastion, such heavy equipment would come in handy for a serious assault. Nevermind, hardcore is hardcore
Dwarf gamer found:
Buildings - square, not round
Materials - from rubble mound
Dark caves - lit 'n' cleaned out
Settlements - deep underground
Farmability - to grinder bound
Shields - made creepers but sound
Axes and crossbows - taking mobs out
Op seems to be playing in Hardcore mode, so they'd want to use their best equipment.
Except I'd prefer not having Efficiency on my pickaxe in the Nether, mining netherrack is fast enough as it is.
Iron is cheap, if not in Hardcore I'd use iron equipment (with golden boots to keep any piglins friendly) instead of stone tools and no armor.
Oh, right.
I didn't notice.
In that case going in with full carbon gear is actually a good idea.

Good luck!

Just testing.

Yes, but then it's pretty easier to barter with piglins to drop you one or two if you have spare gold upon entering the Nether

I forgot suspicious stew. If you craft it with allium you can have a 4 seconds fire resistance that cat save your life in a pinch.
