I created my first nether portal and spawned in a basalt delta biome at a depth (Y-axis) of 100. Is this too low or too high? Do I mine up or down or just continue straight to find a nether fortress or just any other biome bc the BD sucks and it's is hard for a newbie like me to wander around
Most of the nether stuff happens around y 40-70. Get out if you can, but maybe being stuck in a tunnel is good. The basalt deltas is the most terrifying biome of them all, the magma cubes can kill you in literal seconds and cut through a shield like hot butter

100 is pretty high, at 128 it's sealed off by bedrock. Just remember your coordinates and explore.

You can write your cords for the portal in chat or on a sticky note beside you, Id dig a staircase down but be careful of lava pockets
