I was looking at sugar cane farms and came across a zero-tick method to grow sugar cane that works by swapping the water block that's adjacent to the sugar cane. However, I'm not sure if in 1.16.2 it's patched or not. Here's the video for reference:
When I tried to re-create this on 1.16.2 I first noticed the redstone circuit they use kept burning out unless you add increase the repeaters delay by one. However, this doesn't seem to matter at all because the sugar cane still wasn't growing as it should have as shown in the video. Another thing is the guide tells us to place a dispenser to dispense water facing upwards that has a hopper on top of it. However, it seems that 1.16.2 also patches this as the bucket of water is shot out as an item instead of a water source. I got around this by moving its position to another side of the grass block. Again, this didn't help.
I looked around in the patch notes for 1.16.1 and 1.16.2 but I couldn't find anything mentioning patching a zero tick sugar cane farm, changes to sugar cane growth, changes to dispensers and water or even mentions of hoppers.
Does anyone have a similar experience with this on 1.16.2 Java edition? If I am doing everything correctly and it really is patched, is there another method?
depends if you're playing on a server or singleplayer world. Some server operating systems have custom fixes for bugs like the zero tick farms you mentioned. If it's a singleplayer world then yeah it probably is patched by mojang.
