Hey all! This is my first post here on this forum. I'm new to Minecraft and have been playing for about 1-2 months now. I've been hearing some new noises and wanted to ask here. I've also got another question seen below as well.
So this noise is not consistent; they happen at various times (semi-often, once every three to four gamings). There is the background music going on (or not), but then then all of a sudden it'll sound like someone is pulling a metal box over concrete...or there will be this scary "string section" that lasts like 2 seconds. There is something else that sounds like "metallic thunder". These don't happen often but it makes me wonder what's going on? Is there something happening below the surface? These sounds will pop up when I'm underground as well. Anyone else came across these sounds? What do they mean?
Also, who is this guy in gold armor that all of a sudden comes at me? I've seen this guy at least 4 times now, but only lately. It's taken me about at least a month's playing time for this guy to show up. It looks like another human player all dressed in gold armor, except I'm on single player mode! I'm not playing with anyone else. Who is this guy?
The noises are "ambience" or "cave sounds", they're heard more often when you're near a dark space, like a cave, but they don't mean anything special, they're just a game feature.
there are a lot of new ones for the Nether, I haven't noticed any new ones in the Overworld but apparently the function that Minecraft uses to decide when to play them has been updated so maybe you could be hearing them where you haven't before.
The longer you play in a given area the more likely hostile mobs are to spawn with armor, so you probably saw a zombie or skeleton with armor.
That mob guy wasn't either a zombie or a piglin or a skeleton. It looked human.
Maybe it was Herobrine..
also can you confirm... r u playing the Java version or the Bedrock edition ??
You've posted in Java forum, but you have 'Bedrock' as a tag which use to be called the MCPE version & if so should've been posted in the MC Pocket Edition forum
The mob in gold armor might have been a husk. They have the same general features as zombies but they look human because they aren't green. They spawn in desert biomes and don't burn when the sun comes up.

"Metallic thunder" can I just say, and no sarcasm at all as it's hard to get across when typing - but I genuinely envy your descriptive skills and pretty S(ure I know the sound you mean haha)!!
It's cave ambiance and it varies by fluid type and dimension.
The gold armoured person could be any mob in gold armour, but it's not a person unless someone has somehow hacked into your world (since worlds are hosted online somewhat I believe).

No, perhaps your confused by the reference to a server in the game mechanics?
The game, even single player, is split into two parts, a "server" that, if I understand correctly handles blocks and mobs and stuff and a "client" that does the visual rendering and stuff.
But all parts are run on your own computer unless you use server hosting or something.
It's easy to tell, just disconnect your computer from the internet, as long as you were logged in to your account and don't log out you can play and save games normally.

(Though, of course, as long as you are connected to the internet it is theoretically possible for somebody to hack your computer and impersonate Herobrine even though the game is stored locally.)

I used to play offline a lot actually. I just believed that backups were stored online, which would be an access point to someone with your account details.

When Minecraft makes a backup it puts a zipped file in a folder called "backups" in your Minecraft folder, I don't think it stores a copy anywhere else.
And as far as I know the only time Minecraft offers to make a backup is when you upgrade a world to a newer version.
A sensible backup routine might include online backups but you would have to arrange that yourself, either manually or with 3rd party software.
I guess Windows has some backup options built in but you'd have to tell it to include your Minecraft saves folder.
Having access to your backups would only let a hacker run a copy of your world, I don't see how it would help them gain access to your computer and join your world.

Just testing.
I think a Piglin has a skin tone more comparable to that of a human than the zombie's green or skeleton's gray.
Watch out for the crabocalypse. Some say the day will never come. But it will.
Feel free to drop by for a chat whenever.
If you'd like to talk with me about other games, here are a few I play.
Team Fortress 2
Borderlands series (Borderlands 2 is my favorite game, ever. TPS combat is a lot of fun and makes up for the lower-quality story, in my opinion)
Elder Scrolls series
Warframe (IGN is something like That_One_Flesh_Atronach)
Pokémon series (HGSS forever)
Rocket League
Fallout series
Left 4 Dead 2 (Boomer files always corrupt though)
SUPERHOT (SUPERHOT is the most innovative shooter I've played in years!)
Dead Rising series (Dead Rising 2 is one of my favorite games, and the 3rd was a lot of fun. 1st has poor survivor AI and the 4th is bad)
Just Cause series
Come to think of it, I mainly play fighting-based games.

Zombie villager with armour?
Mintutor now works in 1.13!
MrKite & Mc_Etlam ... I salute you!
