I’ve recently finished a creeper farm that goes about halfway underground (surface to bedrock). I used the same build that wattles did in his tutorial on YouTube except I made about 10 platforms instead of 3. It was difficult to get the cats on top of a solid block so I just put them on carpet instead and placed carpet on the platform the way wattles said to. But spiders keep spawning and I don’t know how because there isn’t a 3x3x1 space that they could. I’m on bedrock so that might have something to do with it? Does anyone know what could be the problem?
They should need a 3X3 space but only the middle block has to be solid.

This pattern of slabs seems to work fine, so far in Bedrock as well, but spawning in Bedrock is infuriatingly slow so I can't be bothered to watch it any more.

Even around the edges?

Just testing.
Whoops!
I spoke too soon, Bedrock spiders do seem to be able to spawn with less than 3X3 free space.
Sorry about that, no idea how to fix it.
