I need to know, is it possible to create an underground village? I know villagers need food and enough beds to breed, so it should be possible right? I've been thinking of making a dwarvern city inside a hollowed out mountain, and of course, you can't have a city without someone living in it.
This is easily possible since 1.14, as the way a village is calculated no longer depends on doors and skylight (yeah, buildings are actually optional).
That would be awesome. Caves and I don't get along, so bumping into a nice cave full with friendly and uniquely dressed villagers would be a nice surprise for once.
Villagers only spawn as part of the village structure (of which there are currently no underground variants) or as part of the breeding cycle. You can't just build it and expect villagers to show up eventually...you have to pipe them in somehow.
I thought they spawned based on that block that they work from.
No, they just gain a profession from the workplace blocks, if they didn't already have one.
They are generated along with villages, they can breed if they have food and extra beds, and you can cure zombie villagers (which spawn as a certain percentage of zombies or can be the result of villagers being attacked by zombies.)
There are no dangerous weapons. There are only dangerous people. R.A. Heinlein
If you aren't part of the solution, then you obviously weren't properly dissolved.

Yup! It'll work. I hope you post pictures of your build when it's done, that sounds pretty cool!
My Youtube channel! You have a downright fantastic day!
I've seen entire villages created underground from watching various YouTube videos. Just look for them to get ideas. Here is a link for one I liked:
I've seen such underground villages too, but will the villagers come to live there? Maybe we shall get this kind of village in Cave Update?
I'm playing Minecraft PE with addons - and so should you. https://minercamp.com

Just testing.
They wouldn't be "Villagers". They'd be "Troglodytes".
Also, how do they know it's time to sleep?

Maybe one of the theoretical pregenerated structures would be a clock tower?
My Youtube channel! You have a downright fantastic day!
Instinct, a clock, a spot of daylight somewhere?
Easy to make. Stone block pedestal like in strongholds + 4 item frames + 4 clocks. Done.
