I had made my most recent world in the Nether Update snapshots in anticipation for the update and now that official release is out my farmers won't harvest crops or give food to other villagers. I tried changing the crops and adding more varieties of food, giving them more beds to see if that was the issue with them not having enough space to breed, getting rid of bells in other areas to see if it was interfering with how the village boundaries work, spawning in new villagers and making them farmers to see if they would do the job, trading with them to make them happier and even manually giving them food myself but no one will pick any of it up. How do I get my villagers to work again so that they can start breeding more?
Have you by chance set the game rule mobGriefing to false? It is a useful command but it prevents villagers from being able to pick up food. Try the command gamerule mobGriefing true.
