I have a villager powered wheat farm that sorts seeds and wheat separately that i built in 1.15.2. now that i have updated to 1.16 the villager is now making bonemeal and bread, the farm is a 9 by 9 field of wheat with one water source in the middle with a composter on top and a glowstone block on top of that. the whole thing is surrounded by glass and items are picked up when the villagers inventory is full by a collection system underneath. has anyone had a similar experience or know of any fixes?
Hi, having the same problem (wheatfarm with farmers and rails underneath). My solution: breed a new farmer villager (inventory has to be empty!). Fill his/her inventory with 7 stacks beetroot and 1 stack wheat seeds. (you can fill more than 4 slots with the same product now) Make sure they cannot trade with any other villagers. I am running a test now and so far it is working.
You will get wheat and bonemeal from this farm.
Wondering: if I fill one slot with bonemeal, one slot with wheat seeds and 6 slots with beetroots de farmer can use the bonemeal to make the wheat grow faster. This will be my next test.
I just figured this out this morning. You need to block access to the composter, but not completely block access. My suggestion is a fence around the the composter at head height. This will prevent them from getting close enough to use the composter, but also let them think they have access by leaving bottom level of the space open. This has worked for me, and now they behave like in 1.15 and before. They break the plant, pick up the seeds (since their inventory is all seeds) and leave the wheat for the pickup. The block on top of the composter does not actually prevent them from using it. They must be prevented from becoming adjacent. This means putting it in the center of the farm will now cost you the center squares of the farm, so I put my composters on the outer edge.
