When the nether update is released, do I have to reset the nether entirely, or will I be able to add the new biomes into the already generated nether in my world?
You can find the new biomes without having to reset your nether, but you'd have to find unloaded chunks which shouldn't take long unless you've been on the same world for an extremely long time.
Also If you did happen to of explored a large area of the nether but only made a base in one 'small' area of it - there is a way to 'reset' or 'prune' already visited chunks but still keep any builds that in an area - It does require a bit of work on your behalf though
that explains a way to do this & although he did it on 'overworld' you can do it to the DIM-1 (for the nether dimension) & do the same thing (He mentions this @6:35)
