Hello, so i built a creeper farm from looking at logicalgeekboy tutorial. the farm works on only the top layer as seen as in the picture below and the rest of the layer the creeper seems to just hang at the edge of the block. I do put my trapdoors on top to only allow creeper to spawn and on the edge and i do have the exact length for each layers. it seems weird to me that on the first 3 layer creeper does get scared and fall but the rest of the layer creeper just stand there. Im playing minecraft 1.15.2 Java edition. Thanks for any help.
It is weird that there would be a difference between layers if there is no difference between them besides the height.
The Wiki doesn't say whether the 6 block radius the creepers try to keep from cats is Taxicab distance or not, if it is that would explain the behaviour on the lower levels since the only places where the edge is less than 6 blocks Taxicab from the cats is straight E/S/W/N which the creepers could easily miss by chance.
Note for instance that the creeper in your second screenshot, while only 3 blocks from the cat diagonally is exactly 6 blocks away Taxicab distance.

Even if the avoidance radius is actual distance I make the corner blocks somewhere between 5.8 and 6.5 blocks away from the cat.
So I think you need to either shave a block off the edges of the platforms or try 4 minecarted cats in the center to expand the avoidance distance. And perhaps put trapdoors on the corners as well.
Thank you for your reply and suggestion. I will try and do what you suggest and observe the result. by the way this problem just start to persist if i remember correctly when i update the world from 1.14.4 to 1.15.2 then the creepers on rest of the layers besides top 3 begin to act weirdly.

Distance is the absolute distance when it comes to entities and most things in the game; I'm not aware of anything that uses taxicab distance other than light and liquid propagation (due to only flowing along an axis), and the Wiki makes no mention of taxicab distance on this page, only Euclidean distance (in a few cases, such as the radius of a beacon, distance is independently measured along each axis, forming a square/cube).

Just testing.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
They cant seem to pathfind to fall when i spam cats though for some reason
