I was wondering if there is a way to disable the spawning of abandoned mineshafts in the vanilla game. Maybe the configs or a data-pack or something? I find them to be really annoying and poorly designed.. it makes doing anything underground a hassle. Any response would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
There is no way to disable just those, but you could disable all structures entirely when creating the world (I'm pretty sure using NBTExplorer or similar editor you can turn off structures after world creation as well, but that would still leave behind any that were already generated),
You used to be able to do this in 1.8-1.12, via the Customized world type but they removed it in in 1.13 for some reason (some claim it was because they rewrote world generation but based on what I saw when I decompiled 1.13 I find that a bit hard to believe - even the "advanced" terrain settings were all the same (look familiar? I'm pretty sure that the first two fields are biome size and river size (both 4 by default), -1 means all biomes, 63 is sea level, and so on, Likewise, these are all the ore settings, just hardcoded into the game as they were before 1.8) and enabling structures is a simple matter of "if (mineshaftsEnabled) generateMineshafts()", which could have easily been added to Buffet, along with being able to use normal (all) biome generation).
I appreciate your response however this still doesn't fix my problem and I remember how to do it in 1.12.2 as most of my mod packs and the ones I've played are in 1.12.2. So are you saying I can change the generation in the configs?

Whoa! Never heard of anything that would do that. In your shoes, I might just dig in a different place/direction.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?

I know you can disable all structures but i'm almost positive there is a way to remove just mine shafts with outside resources. Thanks for the reply.
Most people like them and enjoy the exploration and stuff and i'm all for it just not mineshafts.
