I play hardcore minecraft and all was going well until i got a thunderstorm, so i slept to make it go away and it never leaves, i've been playing for 2 irl days with it continuously going. I can't to /weather or anything else as i play hardcore. Any thoughts?
In the past (in a modded world), I've encountered a bug wherein sleeping in a bed would not advance the time. You would get the sleep-screen animation, the screen would eventually fade to black, and then you would wake up when it was still night. I think perhaps this was a mod's attempt at some sort of bloodmoon event but there was never any increased mob activity nor any messaging about not being able to sleep in the bed/getting interrupted.
A similar thing could be happening here, allowing you to sleep but not actually doing all the stuff that sleeping normally would do. Unfortunately, the only "fix" I found was to just reinstall Minecraft by backing up the world, completely uninstalling every bit of Minecraft, then installing a fresh copy, creating a new world and moving the backup back into place. I dunno exactly what was fixed from this procedure, as I was also suffering from a bug wherein inventories (both modded and vanilla) that were based on the vanilla chest class simply failed to respond to non-destructive player interaction (meaning I could literally not open the chest to see what was inside).

It is possible to cheat even in hardcore, and being the victim of a bug would seem to me to justify cheating just to fix it.
If you open your world to LAN on the options screen, choosing "allow cheats" you can use cheats until you close the world.
(If you go to creative mode, don't forget to go back to survival before closing the world.)
I'd suggest checking the gamerules doWeatherCycle (should be true) and, maybe, randomTickSpeed (default is 3)
Just testing.
