If that water is under the farmland it won't do any good though, the water has to be at the same level as the farmland or higher to hydrate the farmland, I tested, that still is true in the latest snapshot.
It's not really going to make any difference once the carrot has grown, but if you want it you could put it next to one of the honey blocks or next to one of the hoppers under the honey blocks, under the sandstone.
PROOF OF CONCEPT
So, I was toying around with a honey block rabbit farm, and found you could automatically kill rabbits who dare go in.
Use with credit.
Picture 1: Top design, Rather simplistic. If you can't see, there is a sowed carrot in the middle, surrounded by campfires, and then honey blocks.
Picture 2: Bottom design, (in the middle there is water, to speed up carrot growth.
Picture 3-5: An example base I made, I call it the M.A.R.F. (Mass Afk Rabbit Farm)
I have not tested in a real desert yet, but I made this as a proof of concept, for the newest snapshot.

Neat!
Pretty well thought out.

Just testing.
Nicely done! I love seeing a nice functional farm doing the work.
