I am playing Minecraft Bedrock (Xbox One) and I am unable to die in lava. It is regenerating my health so quickly.
I am wearing full diamond gear but no fire protection enchantments.
Its not been happening all the time on this world, as I have died in lava before wearing enchanted diamond gear (protection, mending, unbreaking) and it took about 15-20 seconds (roughly) for me to lose all my hearts. But now, it seems I am immortal to lava.
This is happening on multiple seeds as I created another world.
There is a new (?) gamerule, fireDamage, that makes you impervious to fire/lava.
And I believe there has been some talk of a bug/glitch where when you upgrade a world to the version where this was added it gets set to false, which makes you immune to the damage.
I wouldn't have thought it would affect new worlds but maybe it's glitchier than I thought.
If you have cheats enabled try typing /gamerule fireDamage true in chat and see if that fixes it.
You might find more info and more knowledgeable answers in the Bedrock section of the forums.
I have copied my world onto creative and did that command, although it improved - as in my hearts still went down but this time without regen, it took a lot slower than when I previously died in lava.
It sounds like there may have been two bugs present - first, the gamerule being set to false when upgrading (I've also heard of similar issues affecting Java) and armor previously not protecting against lava damage, since it shouldn't take just seconds to die in lava in maxed-out armor (full diamond armor with Protection IV on all pieces reduces damage by 92.8%*, including fire damage; since lava deals 4 damage every half second this means you lose health at the rate of 0.576 per second, taking 34.7 seconds to die without regeneration (at least to me that is more than just a "few seconds"). I do recall hearing about a bug that caused you to take too much damage in Bedrock).
*Not sure if Bedrock uses the same enchantment protection as Java (e.g. full Protection IV reduces damage by a fixed 64%, as opposed to the random 60-80% in versions before 1.9) but there is no armor penetration (hence the question of whether enchantments use the 1.8 or 1.9 system); then again, I highly suspect that the Wiki is accurate; e.g. "for example, a player wearing a complete set of leather, always gives 28% of damage protection (while in Java it protects 5.6-14%)", which is just plain wrong; it should be 5.6-28%, or 5.6-26% if you assume a minimum of 1 damage. Similar errors abound elsewhere).
when I mentioned it took me seconds to die in lava before, I couldn't recall how long exactly it took, it definitely didn't take 3 seconds! the time you specified seems more likely. So apologies for maybe exagerrating the time a little bit.
But it does look like the gamerul being set to false is a bug sadly.

Has anyone else had this happen in your worlds recently?
Thanks,

Similar gamerules are drowningDamage and fallDamage.
When I think about it it's possible that the bug/glitch was in the Java snapshots for the upcoming 1.15, I don't remember.
Just testing.
Thanks for your help with that information.

TheMasterCaver's First World - possibly the most caved-out world in Minecraft history - includes world download.
TheMasterCaver's World - my own version of Minecraft largely based on my views of how the game should have evolved since 1.6.4.
Why do I still play in 1.6.4?
it takes about 14 secs to die in lava while wearing a full set of non-enchanted diamond armor.
