I literally have a double chest full of redstone. Unlike cobblestone, andesite (sc?), and all the other useless items I mine down in my strip mine redstone has some uses. But the only thing I seem to use it for is the lever traps to kill my prisone-... I mean... I use it for the lever traps to perform my magic disappearing act with the villagers in my server. Who are definitely not trapped in a confined space, and forced to stay put so I can mine them for XP and emeralds...
Anyways I don't need 3,840 redstone for that purpose. So what can I do with this stuff that's actually awesome? Can I build some kind of trap for the iron golems so I can harvest them? Can I like set up monster traps around the Nether? Is there something I can do with a monster spawner so I can just collect the items and not have to deal with XP farming? Someone PLEASE tell me what to do with this redstone!
Palin - Do Redstone Lamps do anything that torches do not?
Hexalobular - A wizard's tower does sound kind of cool.
liiluusstreams - What do you mean?
Mr_N_Derman - I don't really concern myself with being decorative. That's why my prisoner wal-... I mean... That's why my defensive wall around my village... Is made out of cobblestone, andesonite, gravel, dirt, and whatever other blocks I had lying around at the time. It looks terrible, but I care more about functionality than aesthetics.
I use my excess for Building blocks. In my last world, I had a very large netherwart farm and made blocks of it also. These 2 colors of red and the netherbrick from fortresses or from smelting netherrack are a really nice combination for an impressive build.

Hey I know I'm late to the party but, I totally suggest just building a 30x30 cube with it.
Don't know about that, but I once built a 19x19x19 cubo-octahedron of glowstone and hung it up at level 230. Interesting but didn't give the effect I was expecting as not bright enough at a distance.

Craft into blocks and use decoratively
Mintutor now works in 1.13!
MrKite & Mc_Etlam ... I salute you!
make a rollercoaster
On several worlds I have tiled my mine "backbone" tunnel with a checkerboard pattern of redstone and coal blocks.
Or perhaps you could build a flashy wizards tower for your enchanting station (or cleric traders).
Just testing.
Make a lot of redstone lamps powered by direct contact with a redstone block if you have nothing smarter to do.

Red netherbrick also fits in that group.
Just testing.
Try to challenge yourself. Build auto farms like auto pumpkin/melon or auto sugarcane.
I would recommend trying to design your own farm, using youtube tutorials if you need to. That way, it's even more satisfying when it works

Automate things!
Some ideas:
Redstone is also nice for powered rails, potions, mob proofing, redstone lamps and I suppose decoration blocks.
The last thing I did with redstone was make a canal lock of sorts for an underground waterway I made.
They are not nearly that ugly. Or you can make redstone lamps powered by daylight sensors.
I guess it depends on your playstyle. If you are not into automating things, then it won't have much use to you.

Yeah, I get what you mean but, I just love seeing giant cubes, man. It's just neat.
