On the topic of using image hosting websites, just use imgur. It's free, no sign up, and it gives you the direct link to the image, where you can put it on the forum simply by clicking the "Insert Image" symbol next to the hyperlink symbol when you're posting. Or just use [img] tags.
And it shows up as a link. Lol. When I try to post the image url from my flickr, it says something like "can't support this image extension" even though I used the image feature. Of course, this was on a different forum site, so maybe it does work here. Who knows.

@Weatherdog again! and Wagglyfurball
We can theorize all we want about how to execute such traps, and how to hide them efficiently, but what I am most concerned about is how we are going to find and store the mobs safely for use in the first place... are we simply going to rely on darkrooms?
*snip again
I think the best way to do it would be to have a switch that can change the water flow of a mob trap and lead them to a dark room with a piston floor that would open and release mobs at the press of a switch.

I disagree!
However i do like some sort of chocolate food/candy with milk.
I'm starting to feel large sweeping changes coming on... with the advent of 1.9 and 1.10, PvP will be forever changed. Already there are critical strikes and blocking. Soon there will be potions that increase one's capabilities even further, or perhaps special potions that make your enemy weaker (blindness?). Skills and Stats will further customize the Player vs Player field. Armies will have to diversify their soldiers depending on if there are different caps on different things... pretty exciting. I wish I had more information on the topic...
I'm not sure if I like the direction Minecraft is headed. Potions and skills? What are they aiming for?
And I'm not sure how credible this is, since I haven't heard anyone else discussing it, but did anyone else catch what the Yogscast said the other day about breathing? They said that Notch is planning on adding a breathing feature similar to hunger, so we would have to press a certain key periodically to keep breathing. I really hope they were mistaken, because I think that might just ruin Minecraft for me. Then again, maybe not.

If hardcore mode can be used in SMP, it would be a solution to the strategic issue of death in Minecraft. But maybe permanent death is a little harsh for a multiplayer video game? It would take a while for people to get used to the idea and give life more value. Murder would be a much bigger deal, but a lot of people would probably be jerks and go around killing random people. Just a thought.

p.s.- 100th post!
I think that hardcore for SMP would be a server ban for a set amount of tiem which can be changed in in the server properties.
From what I've heard, it should be a nice new home. Hoping to get on later today to scout the landscape, looking forward to seeing what's already there!
@Brack: It is possible, at least in theory, but it would be very time-consuming and very difficult. Plus, if the grinder is far enough away from a given collection point, then the drops would despawn before they got to said collection point. Then there's the problem of mob traps generally working best when you are in the near vicinity of the trap, making a remote grinder less and less of a plausible idea. A good thought, but unfortunately it appears to be very impractical. I like the thinking, though.

Anyone else build a 28-block-per-harvest renewable Obsidian Generator using only ONE lava source?
Anyone else beat a guy who was in Creative in Spleef? ON BEDROCK!?
Wow, I've really been spamming this thread, haven't I? I guess I was right to hold off on posting my next big thread. Or maybe not. I think we need to get a little back on topic.
If anyone is interested in starting a new server similar to PAoW, please check out my new thread about it here. Everyone should take a look, and give some input, even if you're not interested.
I have read your very in depth guide to the art of war. I, as an experienced spy and strategist, adore this thread and all the ideas stated here.
But, I have noticed a key factor which allows Aerial Combat
By using a combination of minecart tracks, some food, some TNT and some armor, you can blast your troops across the battlefield, as far as a TNT can send you.
This allows for drops off mountains, or maybe even for spying capabilities.
Also, pistons and falling blocks are a very helpful device in the art of sabotage and secrecy.
Underground vertical TNT cannons which, by usage of redstone repeaters, open the top and fire up into a sky fortress, then close without a sign of what happened?
Falling sand with TNT underneath, triggered by redstone?
An underground aerial assault (mentioned above) base?
The possibilities are endless.
I just hope you read over this thread again in order to find more about the art of warfare.
Yours Sincerely,
Glowstonesword.

That's a good idea, though all of the human-in-minecart TNT cannons always tend to send the person no farther than about 100-200 blocks (it's hard to tell, they never say how far the go) and those were Super TNT cannons too, meaning you would need lots and lots of TNT and redstone to power the damn thing just to shoot one person. Not to mention that reloading it would be a giant pain in the buttocks.
But what I learned from Val is that if you make a block like gravel/sand be inside of a primed TNT block, the TNT will explode and will deal terrain damage if it is in water, which might be a good Idea if you want to make underwater, shallow-water mines where a person steps on a pressure plate that is on top of a sand block, that primes the TNT that falls down, which makes the sand fall making an almost inescapable trap because you fell down, there is water rushing in to kill you, and you have a bomb under your feet that will go off in less than a second.

Yes, it would take a lot of effort, but if you placed it on a mountain... And used pistons to hide the base...
Espionage and attacks anyone?
Also, have you thought about my ideas for pistons? I mean, underground TNT cannons!

Man cannons still aren't as good a method of travel as others. Maybe you could use them to get over things, but they take a lot of time to set up and use up a lot of resources.
Hidden vertical TNT cannons sound neat, but vertical cannons are notoriously hard to set up, and they would be kind of pointless in the long-term. There's no use for a permanent vertical cannon. And if a sky base got hit with TNT from below, and didn't see any sign of a cannon below them, they could easily reveal it by dropping one TNT from the point of impact on the base.

I saw that article, too.
@Anyone:
Does anyone have an extra ticket to Minecon?
