Then, he [Sun Tzu] used his fight money to buy two of every animal on earth, and then he herded them onto a boat, and then he beat the crap out of every single one.
*Laughs*
And from that day forward any time a bunch of animals are together in one place, it's called a 'zoo'!
Here's a thought for hiding valuable items in plain sight: Furnaces have the smoothstone texture on the top and bottom, and have 2 item slots. :wink.gif:

the caveat being if the furnace is destroyed you lose everything that was stored in it. (the items won't drop out)

Which may be a good thing. If the enemy infiltrates your base, and accidentally destroys it, they don't get the items!
Something I never saw in the thread... Making doors that close when power is given to them. Enemies can't just add a power source to open your door. This allows for traps like this one: viewtopic.php?f=1020&t=118398 Impossible to get out... untilthetntexplodesandyoudielol. And entrances are easily guarded with someone standing against the door while an enemy tries to break down the door.

We'd already used this on our server quite a bit :tongue.gif:
About the cannon accuracy video... post a link?
And one of our soldiers has already schooled us in the ways of "unhackable" doors. They're very nice.
Actually, one of our members, Etherimp, has been working on stuff like that for around a week now! Maybe he was inspired by that video. He's making good progress in cannonology.
Very good guide,fun to read...i'll be hosting a war server any day now :tongue.gif:
1 question though:if i'm a spy,wouldn't the enemy see my nameplate and be able to use "counter espionage"(aka 3 guys in diamond armor with bows) on me?Is there any way to disguise a nameplate?

Nameplates are the bane of my existence. As of now, the only way to hide them is to "sneak" :\
I like to use doors to close openings in walls. The door can cover a 1x1 hole that you fire through. When you close the door nobody can shoot at you but you can open it to loose arrows. It would be good for kill zones in the interior of a fortress. But the doors have to be high enough that the enemy can reach them and open them.
About the name plates, I don't think notch will have that for long. It's sort of dumb.
May I suggest he create like...some option or some kind of tool that identifies players if they not moving and are not obstructed by objects? Basically a tool that isn't a tool but you can always use. I guess he could call it, "examine?"

Shame,that means "Black Ops" stealth missions are out of the picture,except maybe in tundra areas. :sad.gif:
Speaking of tundra,you mentioned in the beggining using snow to hide TNT mines,but never said how to do this.So,how do you do it?
Another thing is that there are a bunch of traps and barriers that you mentioned,all of which are AWESOME btw,but what do you do when the enemy breaches the walls?My idea was that you could make the interior kind of like a maze layout that only your teammates could navigate, and they could attempt to split up the enemy inside and pick them off,or maybe lead them into a trap.
Final thing,I like the lava wall,but as it is,an enemy could get through by doing this:

To avoid would be "sappers" like this,maybe you could do this?(minus the underground tunnel of course :tongue.gif:)
With the Coastal Defense System (Underwater Cannons), the element of surprise is on your side! All you have to do is create a funnel of sorts to force the enemy to go straight in front of this.
Basic Concept Video
Full Tour, Loading of ammo and 2 firings from 2 different point of views.
So in this video, you will see nothing at first because everything is underwater.
This is my brand-new coastal defense system! On the sandy coast, there is a bunker that has windows that are just at sea level. Inside, you can see all the hostile ships without them knowing. From this bunker, you will be able to fire several underwater cannons that fire TNT into the sky. These TNT explode mid-air causing great damage to ships within range.
@Cookiepuss
Interesting... a tool to identify players XD
@Amphouse
I really hope we do get something like primitive planes.
About mines... place tnt 1 block down, with a pressure plate on top of it. The snow will fall on the pressure plate, hiding it and making it blend in with the snow layer above. However, this only works when it is snowing... so... until notch fixes snow these landmines are impossible.
About digging under the walls, I thought that it was obvious you'd need to protect the underside, but that's a pretty neat way to do it. If your guards were manning the fort correctly, though, and they saw someone pop out of a hole in the ground, they'd better kill them XD.
@humanvegetable
Awesome! You should come and do some testing with that on our server :tongue.gif:

I'm diggin' the activity on this thread.
It's REALLY cool.

I wonder if we will get the ability to fly on anything at some point?
I look forward to these wars...
