Will you're update mention hyperspeed transmitters?
They could easily turn the tables of a battle, seeing as you can get in an opponents castle 500 blocks away in five seconds.

Wrong sir, wrong. YOU stole the fizzy lifting drinks and YOU touched the ceiling, therefor it must be washed and sterilized! So you get nothing! You lose! Good day sir!
I don't know if this has been said before, but I recently had an idea to use the Nether as a means to ambush your enemies. First, find the coordinates of the target. This could be as simple as getting close and guessing the coords of the center. Now, have a spy in the Nether with Netherrack camouflage skin (to hide if need be, I have seen some on the skindex) calculate the location of the center of the target in the Nether by taking the difference between your coords and the target, divide by eight and count that many steps in each x, y, and z direction. When you reach the supposed center, build a portal. When you wish to launch a raid, gather your forces in the Nether, and go into the portal. A new portal will be generated inside the center of your target. Using this you can bypass most defenses that a base or fortification may have.

Wow im back where i started breaking down peoples Nether Teleportation idea's first of all, it requires ALOT of prep work sending an armed team through the gates of hell just for a faster trip isn't a good call so you'll have to usually build some sort of tunnel now once you GET to the base Portals do pretty much whatever they damn please so the portal could very well spawn ontop of the tower of the base. Not to mention if you Y'Know Leave the portal at there end in the base they could walk right through to Your base :smile.gif:.
His post was based on the assumption that you enter unnanou8nced, and reap one hell of a lot of p while getting barely any n.
Plus, if i had a load of armed enemies in my base, imhightailing it if i dont have more men to stop them.
(INSIDE the base, that is)
Also, the reason I did not take into account that the enemy may use your portals against you was that such a move, in my opinion would wound, or cripple at best, the enemies ability to retaliate from that location. Even if they can, just send everyone back in the nether, have one person take down the portal in the Overworld, and rig the former location of the portal with several traps or you can simply seal it up with netherrack.
My latest update gave me THAT message... but Citricsquid is an awesome wizard and he took care of everything :smile.gif:.

@Raezazel
The only problem is that the Nether doesn't really... work... but then again I post things about Nether items, so I can't continue to disapprove because of THAT.
I think the nether is an EXCELLENT travel mechanism if you know where you need to get, and how far it is to get there. In terms of passing through walls, I think it could become a viable tactic, actually, as it would be much faster than simply digging through a well built lava or renewable wall.
@Joe
Step 1. Gather materials. Difficulty: Easy
Step 1.5 - Know how far you need to walk. Medium
Step 2. Build Portal. Easy
Step 3. Go in. Easy.
Step 4. Walk. Easy.
Step 5. Exit portal. Easy.
Step 6. Fight. What you came to do in the first place.
Also, common sense dictates that you shouldn't put the entry portal in your base.
Put lava all around the outside of the entry portal after you go through it. [leave someone behind to do the job].
Well if you have a nice walkway from your base portal to the invasion portal you could just have someone tear a hole in the invasion portal and then plug it up with a few blocks of dirt. If they relight the dead portal frame in their base it should spawn one elsewhere in that nether chunk.
If you were unlucky and had it spawn right next to your blocked portal that would kind of suck but you can eliminate that possibility by digging out the space you place your portal at. If it is in the ceiling or otherwise buried in lots of rock (or even under the magma sea) they would have a hell of a time figuring out where it was in relation to the portal they spawn.
I think after a new one is lit up in the nether the one in your tunnel would now become one-way as going back would just lead to the one they lit. I'm less certain about this but even if I got it backward you could still abuse this by lighting your portal and then the garbage decoy in some crappy spot.
If they're savvy about this sort of thing they could close off the decoy portal and probably get into your tunnel but people are already thinking of ways to make that a non-issue. I'm thinking it would be especially fun to flood your portal room and make the walls from furnaces. Obviously there's an iron door in it somewhere but tearing that down while drowning isn't going to be very easy.
Add your own hellish ideas of course~
If you make crude pirate-map-esque drawing the terrain surrounding an important point, or exact "x marks the spot - follow the dots" directions, and put them on a private forumboard - it's a lot easier (not really) then just putting XYZ coordinates and telling people to "uh go that way". It's a lot more fun, too.
...so knowing that the other guys might try an assault through the nether, you should build a trap portal in your base. You can rig it up with some redstone, a dispenser, and a wooden pressure plate.
The pressure plate is right beside the portal, but with a block over it so you can't actually walk onto it. A dispenser shoots dirt onto the pressure plate. When it despawns or is picked up, the dispenser shoots more dirt out. A separate circuit detects if the plate is not pressed, and if it isn't, fires a bunch of arrow dispensers at the portal. So people arrive, and start picking up the dirt automatically and the arrows start shooting at them...
...Or you could do the easy thing and just put lava all around the portal...

I just want to lure children into my cave with promises of candy so I can enslave them and put them to work in my underground mushroom farm.
How does one get into a server like this? I would love to join an army and be a redstone engineer or a spy or something! I'm sure with training I could make a pretty good anything really...
I respect all the effort you put into this, but I personally don't think this should be stickied. It's just too long and intimidating to read, for example by newbies. I think if something is stickied, it should be easily accessible to all.
Also, is there a summary? To tell the truth, I don't even want to start to read it.
While i not only discovered the enemy base, traveled there in person, and gained one of their men, the enemy STILL does not know where m y base is.
And with this at my disposal i can continue to work undercover, and even if i am discovered, am in a position to eradicate the enemy should they try to attack.

Methinks his idea is good.

Wait what? You can enter and exit the Nether from a single SMP server? With no mods?
does not work, just tried
Many good things come from Sweden, like minecraft and.... umm.... did i alredy say minecraft?
if u put redstone in jukebox, will it play redzone?
?
Or, perhaps it is a mod that the admin has installed...
I guess it's a sticky because when I read it all I came.
Warriors of Chaos!!!
Khorne, Slaanesh, Tzeentch, Nurgle - So many ways to die, so few times to do so.
Mod Edit: User was warned for this post: No one word/Tl;dr posts, especially when you are undermining someones hard work and effort.
Nice work though, I like it a lot.
