Recently I’ve started a hard world on Minecraft and got the necessary items to go to the end but unfortunately I am stuck with prot 2 and 3 armor. I was wondering if it is possible to beat the Ender dragon on Hard with only Prot 2 - 3 Diamond armor.

It's possible with unenchanted diamond armor. As long as you bring a bow, plenty of arrows, and a ton of blocks for stacking up, you should be fine. Just avoid the fireballs and dragon breath. Blast protection may be better if you could get it.

Remember those versions that minecraft pranked us with? Specifically:
Minecraft 2.0
Minecraft 1.VR-Pre1
Snapshot 15w14a
Minecraft 3D
Those are still downloadable! Watch this video for 2.0:
To download the other ones you need to make a folder in the versions folder for minecraft and put the client and JSON file for the versions in there. They all need to be named the same aside from file extensions. Once you do that, you will be able to choose that version when making a new profile with the minecraft launcher.
It's fall damage and endermen that get you, not direct damage from the dragon.
If you're worried about dying, just wear iron. No big loss. If you die, re-enter and pick up where you left off. You should dump all your levels before the fight anyway.
Infinity bows are very helpful in the dragon fight, as are buckets of water to create safe areas from endermen and drop-zones to protect against falling or jumping off the obsidian pillars. I bring at least two buckets of water with me. I also like ladders for the tall pillars rather than using dirt (or whatever) to column up the side. I bring a stack of ladders with me.
It's all about making sure not to trigger endermen and taking out those end crystals. After you've destroyed the end crystals, stay close to the bedrock exit portal. The dragon will come to you then. As long as you stay on the outskirts of the main island, the dragon tends to fly around at a distance and dodge arrows making it hard to hit her.
The whole process is really easy—unless there's a problem like getting knocked off a high pillar while accidentally triggering three endermen in the process. It's so easy that if it goes off without a hitch, it's rather boring (after your first time). Trouble is, there certainly can be a hitch, and that's when things get exciting.

My short story-like journals; quick-and-easy reads:
What Sharpe said. Feather Fall is more important on your armor for fighting the dragon than Protection is. Get hit by the dragon and he can fling you quite some distance into the air, and if he knocks you off one of the taller obsidian towers, the fall can be enough to kill you even WITH Feather Fall IV on your boots.
Lay a bed next to the End Portal in the Stronghold and sleep there to reset your respawn point before you enter The End. Stick a chest or two next to the bed with one or more complete sets of dragon-killing gear and armor, in case you die or get flung not just into the air, but out into the void. Twice now I've gone into the End on a group Dragon Hunt on our server and IMMEDIATELY gotten hit into the void as soon as I materialized on the Entry Platform. So don't take anything you can't afford to lose, especially something like your best or only set of diamond armor.

Do beds still explode in the End?
I have a link to a YouTube video where a speed player starts a new world and, in an hour, kills the Ender Dragon.
He used several beds he brought with him.
He'd get the dragon to attack place a bed between him and the dragon and move back.
Timed right the bed would explode under the dragon.
After a few bed explosions the dragon expired.

If you aren't part of the solution, then you obviously weren't properly dissolved.
Yes, beds still explode in the end, not sure how to safely get back OUT of a bed once it explodes. Especially now that you have to be a bit closer than one used to need to be in order to click oneself into a bed. I'd think sleeping in a bed with the Dragon inbound would lead to the player taking more damage from the explosion than the Enderdragon.

Clicking on a bed in the End or Nether doesn't put you in the bed, it just detonates the bed.
So you can stand behind something to get some protection from the blast.
A custom made obsidian shield can give almost total protection, don't know if that would make the dragon change their flight path or not.
Just testing.
If you watch the video the part where he goes to The End starts at 55:37.
He uses arrows and beds to kill the dragon.
He has leather helmet, leather breast plate, iron leggings, and iron boots.

I'll have to try that at some point. Perhaps while the dragon is sitting on that empty exit fountain.
True, but he's also a professional achieving a speed run.
I don't think trying to synchronize a bed's explosion with the dragon's charge from its nest is the best way to go about one's very first attempt.
Blow up the crystals. Shoot her with arrows. Hit her with a sword when she lands.
Have fun and let us know how it goes! Take screenshots (F2 key)!
