So in another thread about building big in survival, I brought up our current Realms server with Murkwood village. We have a base by a mineshaft with a double dungeon (zombie and skeleton spawners roughly 8 blocks apart) that we turned into a grinder. Since some were interested in how things are going, I decided to make a thread.
Here is the base from last month. I also took a pic of the kill room of the double spawner. I didn't think to take any pics when we were building it.
I've laid out where the walls are going for phase 1 of the base.
Here is what the inside looks like for the bubble elevator, brewing nook, enchanting area and our basic storage for taking to building sites.

We have a nether portal and built a small fort in the nether to protect the portal. I drove a tunnel to where the closest desert is and put up a portal there. We also have found and cleared a nether fortress, but the blaze farm is not finished.
Here is how crazy the mineshaft is under the base where the double dungeon was at. I also took a pick just outside the mineshaft where I drove a tunnel over 1100 blocks to get to Murkwood.
On the way to Murkwood, we found a slime chunk. So we dug out from 40 to bedrock to put in a slime farm. While clearing a ravine by Murkwood, I found slime bouncing around there, so the slime farm got put on the back burner until the blaze farm is done.
Slime farm partly done
The ravine near Murkwood with one of the six spider spawners in the distance. Behind me the mineshaft spreads out along the ravine. Here is one of the other spider spawners.
Here is Murkwood village, so named as it is in a dark oak forest (roofed.) We declared martial law and cleared trees to make room for the village. Here are the pics from last month.
Taken from the hills behind the village.
Close up of the Broken Tower.
I walked by and evidently broke up what I thought was a union meeting of Murkwood's iron golems. What they were really doing was conspiring to breed like crazy. I have over 50! of them now and there are almost a dozen that have spawned outside the palisade. I even found one hundreds of blocks from Murkwood! Here is that adventurous golem that crossed a river to get this far from Murkwood.
I turned around and you can't even see the village! I believe the green square is the cactus I planted outside of Murkwood.
The iron golems of Murkwood like to window shop and have permanently clogged Market Street.
Here is a long shot of what Murkwood looks like as of today. All the colors are the sheep in the stockyard, along with the cows and pigs. The house right by the stockyard covers the entrance to a shallow cave. In that cave, I hid the auto sheep farm in the cave for some black sheep to get emeralds. Under Broken Tower, I stacked our first farms one on top of the other so they all can grow while I'm working on Murkwood and Murkwood Port.
Wheat
Carrots
Potatoes
Beats
Melons and Pumpkins
Sugar cane
I even put in a kelp farm off to the side, but it grows slowly. Now that I have armor with aqua affinity, deep strider and respiration, this became a backup.
I've built an enchanting room in the Broken Tower and from the roof, you can see Murkwood on the right and Murkwood Port on the left.
You can see how well Murkwood is lit up.
Here is Murkwood Port with the docks and a sailing ship. I found the blueprints of the shipwrecks in the wiki, so I built a real ship. You need to put sand down so that you can start building 3-4 blocks below the water. I did level 3 twice to make the bottom deck three high and to have more of the ship underwater.
The port part way through building.
Finished Murkwood Port.
The port from the other side.
Here is Murkwood Port from almost 40 blocks up.
There is still a lot we would like to do. Finish the walls around the core of the base. Put in more villages near base. Finish the slime farm. Build automatic farms at the base. Build a castle above Murkwood. Drive nether tunnels to a jungle, mooshroom island, mesa, savannah, fortress, mansion, witch hut, and pillager outpost at least. I also want to finish the nether tunnels in cobble for protection from ghasts. And who knows what else. We have already found a ocean monument and I build a small tower on a nearby island. I have a conduit built above the monument, but I can't kill guardians fast enough to clear it.

So, what do y'all think?
Tremendous!
I like the name, "Murkwood," as well! Keep us updated!
