Although your numbers are impressive (3500 is impressive to me) I do feel it is a lot of work for not so much. I don't mean to appear aggressive, but on my part, I just did a 1 chunk room in with and length, 5 blocks high. It clearly does not yield as much as you (I have 27 slime balls), I feel it is sufficient. I don't think I will ever need more than 500 actually ^^. Anyway, I thank you for your explanation, as it has inspired mine.

You are certainly right! 500 is an absurd amount of slime balls.
For me, I'm also participating in a "chest of every resource" kind of challenge, however, so 3500 is the bare minimum I need!
Great, but this requires much, much digging. Personally I have a quite big branchline at layer 13 (head height) in SMP. Still no slimes, but if I would be in SSP...
Not much more digging than any standard mob grinder, but yes, it takes a while. Took me 2 days I think?
Thanks heaps for this! I quickly built a four level one of these just one chunk big, move back about 2 chunks and wait for about 5 minutes then I just go in and harvest all my slimes!

Thanks for making this post! Since 1.7 came out I was desperate to find out an easy and fast way to get slimeballs and you have just given one to me.
Diamonds for you
So I was working on this really cool resource pack a while ago, but bad progress nonwithstanding, I think I found something much better... I'm probably gonna never release another custom Minecraft map.Until we meet again...
Holy ****! You should make one online, then unleash your foes on the village!
Actually, it'd be much better if you gave them some ladders and an elevated platform. They'd fall from the skies!

This is excellent! I made a small 1x2 chunk farm with 2 floors (I don't need a huge amount of slime balls) and it's already working awesomely after a few minutes! Definitely worth the mining time.
Hello, I have made two floors so far, and just wanted to check if its working. Ive waited twice about 15 mins each, and no luck. Do they usually take more time to spawn or is it because I have 1.7.2 and the Chunk Detector is 1.6.6?
I think what I'm probably gonna do is MCedit the blocks out and make the farm from there. Thanks for this! Cheers!
Oh, and a question, can we put water at the end so that the slimes move towards one point or does it mess with their spawning?
EDIT: If someone already asked this question or it was answered, sorry.
What about on SMP? When I made it there (4 levels, 2 high each) the slimes would spawn on one level, but glitch around and I couldn't hit them but they could hit me.

Glad to help! Enjoy your pistons!
If you really want to use mods for it, you type in: /spawn slime and then put in the number of slimes you want.
Diamonds for you
You just lost the grammar.

./me polishes and kisses your shoe.
So did I! Then I died in the lava lake that was just below it. D:
EDIT: I used F3 and didn't find any slime-ish jumping mobs. It must have been the only one there :sad.gif:

Are you on Peaceful? I was having trouble spawning them and then realized I still had it on peaceful from when I was finishing up the room.
And awesome farm. Never have to worry about not having sticky pistons again.
