This is a great farm! I'll make this where I have 3 chunks forming a right angle

I'd say bones pretty much take the cake across the board.
I don't really know if this counts but I think eggs have 2 uses because they sometimes make more chickens. More chickens means more feathers, raw chicken, and eggs.
Does this still work as of 1.5.2?I can't seem to find what is wrong. I am running on MCv 1.5.2, and did everything you said, with a 1x1 area.
Can anyone help?
And yes, I have a slime chunk. Found Via -> http://extension.ws/minecraft/slimes.html

Slime chunk or not, it's pointless to build these anymore. Just go find a swamp Biome and camp there for 2 or three nights. You'll have tons of slimes.
(face palm) this thread is so old.

So happy i stumbled upon this in 2013, these plans should stil work correct? How important is lighting up surrounding caves to the slime farms efficiency though?

What is wrong? are the slimes not spawning? Make sure your in the waiting area, might wanna try lighting/flooding surrounding caves

So I'll give my other 2 cents. I have made one of these and in fact it covered 8 chunks that were very close. This design is very functional and takes very little maintenance. I have not made one since slimes spawn in the swamps.
I'm sure it probably works still.
As ChromoFX said you need to lite up or fill the caves with cobble or whatever.

Does this design still work though do you know? Id prefer to have a steady stream that that i can kill with less energy then camping swamps (none of which are close to my base)

No I don't sorry. Never tried it.
Perhaps try building a Nether Portal at your Base and the Swamp. Then building a Rail tunnel between the 2 as an alternative in the Nether.
Dude, you are awesome! I first made 9x9x6 room in a slime chunk and I didn't Know it was a slime chunk. But after this I dug out the whole chunk and have an efficient slime farm going! Also what would be cool is if you did what this site administrator does to "add the faces of fans to your topics" here's the link http://www.minecraft...to-your-topics/ PS Thanks to you my profile pic is major cool. Hehe.
so I am playing on a Multi player and I don't know the seed for the world. Is it possible to dig around the chunk to create 2 block high caves and fence each chunk up to see if there is any chunk that spawn slimes?

That's the best way to do it. Only try a 3x3x3 space, which will give all slime sizes a chance to spawn.
Nice idea. However I will not be building it as my main underground base happens to be in a swamp area and so I'm getting slimes everywhere. Without actively searching for them I already have almost a chest full of slimeballs :-)

Oh and also Slime Balls can be used to craft Magma Cream, (A Slime Ball and Magma Cream in a crafting square) which can be used for potions of fire resistance, and for sticky pistons.
Actually in the snapshots you can make slime blocks out of slime balls.
They stick into what they touch and you can move all blocks connected to a slimeblock that is connected to sticky piston.
Well sounds complicated but it has only 1 rule, #1: A piston can only push upto 12 blocks !
But the thing is its ok for making a flying machine: Here is a link for understanding more about slime blocks:

Large biomes. Plus, other mobs won't spawn.
