so i was in my survival world and i was getting shot up by a skeleton right and i got to half a heart so i paused the game but if i unpause the chances of me dying are very high but idc if i die i just dont wanna lose my stuff and i was right next to lava and its modded so i also had good modded stuff but if there's anything i can do pls lemme know and also if there is i doubt the mods will matter
also i have my fov all the way up so it looks like the skeleton is farther than it actually is but it can shoot me from there
If you try to save the situation in game instead of with an editor then
A: Make a backup first.
I'm not absolutely sure you can make a backup properly without leaving the game?
You should probably try to avoid leaving the game or, when you reload, you might get shot before you get a chance to use any commands.
B: Make sure you have cheats enabled in your game.
If not you can open the game to LAN and choose to allow cheats.
(The option is listed as "Settings for other players" but seems applie to you as well, unfortunately the Gamemode settings don't seem to.)
C: I would say the fastest way to give a command like /gamemode creative or /gamerule keepInventory true is to type it outside the game and cut and paste it in the chat, but make sure you have it spelt, and capitalized, properly.
(Note the capital "I" in keepInventory for instance.)
Good Luck!

Oh, and if you can find your way back to where you are from your spawn point (and don't get killed too many times on the way) you could likely get any of your stuff that didn't fall into the lava back, so if you are sure you can find your way back an alternative, particularly after a successful backup could be to just get as far from the lava as possible before getting killed.

Looks like one of your mods shows you where you were last killed?

If you're not above cheating, switch to peaceful mode to despawn the skele (may fail if the skele has already shot an arrow and it's headed your way).
