I very rarely play minecraft alone. My bf and I run a private sever, and we often play together. Having another person there with different ideas on how to play keeps the game very fresh for me.
When I play on my own, I feel like there's no purpose to what I achieve. Playing together with someone keeps things interesting
Yep... Minecraft got fun again. I guess I was playing too much single player to find out how fun multiplayer was. I forgot all about it and never bothered with it for months. Thanks for helping me restore interest in minecraft.
Minecraft has never really bored me. At times I prefer other games a lot more though. Sometimes I go on Minecraft breaks and such and when I get back the game seems new. I just suggest building more or creative a new world. SMP would probably be a good choice.
This is an old thread I know but "ALL" games are repetitive. FPS's, well you shoot, take cover, shoot, throw frag, shoot, (sometimes drive vehicles etc or fly). RPG's grind, advance in story, grind, mini-games, grind. etc of course that does not include little secrets or what not. RTS's, build build build and micromanage micromanage micromanage lol. TBS's comes in variety but build, manage, move, conquer, turn. Platformers, jump, (sometimes kill) grab items/powerups, move left, right, up or down etc.
Puzzle games, do not have to go there lol. MMORPG's grind, quest, craft, pvp, raids, LFG, repeat. Now crafting can be fishing, woodcutting, smithing this or that heck the game can have 20 crafts but still crafting is crafting and every game is repetitive.
A lot of RTS's or TBS's have mapmakers to prevent this for a fresh game ground. MMO's always update with new features to add new things, FPS's add new maps or this or that etc. Just some games are meant for certain groups of people, some all so one way or another every game is repetitive. Sorry had to get this out of my system LOL but yea if minecraft is not for you then that's how life is, you'll find something
Don't say mods, don't say mods...
Okay, get mods. I've been playing MC since late Alpha, and I love it. But it can get very boring for me. Lately, I've been making "Loadouts", you could say, using a backpack mod. Its a simple objective, but its fun to gather what I need.
Or you could play Multiplayer.
But who needs friends, right?
... Right?

So uh, after not coming on the forums for ages, I discovered that my signature was just a bunch of outdated mod banners.
...I really don't know what to do here.
I understand where you're coming from. I haven't played in a couple weeks. I started trying to work on an automatic farm and got frustrated. I haven't since been inspired to go back and work on that or any other projects. I know that eventually another project will inspire me and I'll get back into it. I also started a new world and decided to try living as a hermit rather than settling anywhere. That was pretty fun, so that may be something to try as well, play in a way you've never played before.
Feels repetitive? Play a challenge, an adventure map, puzzles, parkour, survival games, other games, multiplayer... there are many things to do to break the monotony
I play on peaceful so I do what I want when I want. Not repetitive at all for me.
mobs.
Aye.
Peaceful with redstone creations.
Make automated farms for foodstuffs so you get a weeks rations by the click of a button.
Make a sheepfarm that allows you practically infinate amount of colored wool to build with.
Make trainstations to transport you here and there.
Free up your time to create.
I find the game repetitive as well. My general path is "establish, then build" and quite frankly I don't really want to build any more since that's pretty much the only good part of the vanilla game (IMO anyway, some people apparently find the bad aspects like PVP good and I can't imagine why) and thus I play it the most. I don't see any deviations from that path besides being nomadic, but that relies heavily on survival which I consider to be a bad feature.
1.6 can improve the end game if the regional difficulty is done in a good way. They're also changing some NBT tags with mobs so who knows what properties mobs can get? Too bad this update won't focus too much on combat, or maybe they will because of horses?
I'm just hoping 1.6 can get me back into survival.
Minecraft isn't boring. It's mining with picks. Now if we had a huuuge power drill, like the ones they use in RL mining, you could bore through the rock at insane speed carving up zillions of cobble. It would use a lot of coal to power, and have a gigantic circular cutting bit made of course of diamond.
well you can kill the enderdragon the wither and 50 creepers, you can download mods you can adventure a little bit you can make awesome redstone contraptions you can make adventure maps etc.
When I play on my own, I feel like there's no purpose to what I achieve. Playing together with someone keeps things interesting
