What happens if you build a portal in the end? do you go to the nether? does it even work?
You can build an obsidian frame in The End, but you can't activate it. If you hack in a portal block itself (the swirly purple part) with an inventory editor or the "/give" command, it'll take you to the nether.
can you kill a mob by destroying a obsidian frame or portal tile when it spwans in the entrance of the nether portal? I need to know this because i saw the video take back the night minecraft and wanted to know if you can kill a mob when its between the portal and overworld...
When i build a portal in the nether, it spawns me almost always as low as possible in the overworld. For example, my coordinates in the nether are 800 / 90 / 30, so i should spawn close to layer 90 in the overworld but it usually spawns me only under layer 30. Are there any tips/tricks which affect spawning location?
One of my cardinal rules on a new map is, do not build your first Overworld portal below 64 Y. The game actually scans down from the ceiling in order to figure out where to either put portals, or send people in the Nether; so if it is putting you at low points, it's for two possible reasons.
a} Your Overworld portal is underground or below 64 Y (sea level) and the game is trying to match elevations for the linking portal in the Nether.
b} Less commonly, it may simply be that there is solid Netherrack for several dozen blocks above the elevation in the Nether that matches your Overworld portal, so the game simply has to put the portal in the first non-obstructed place it can find.
Either way, don't build your first Overworld portal underground. If the game keeps building Nether portals underground, you will simply have to break them and change the elevation.

You think magic isn't real? Consider this: for every person, there is a sentence -- a series of words -- which has the power to destroy them.
